New Delhi, November 3, 2025: A tourist scam operating in Delhi has been exposed in a viral video, leading to widespread discussion across social media platforms. The incident, which nearly victimized a British woman traveling in the city, has brought renewed attention to the methods used by fraudulent agents to mislead visitors. It was revealed by the woman, known online as @discoverwithemma_, that she was approached by multiple individuals and told to visit an “official tourist office” for bus or train ticket bookings.

Misinformation and Pressure Tactics Utilized

The traveler reported that she and her companion were informed multiple times that all public transport options, specifically trains, had been “cancelled.” This fabricated information was given near the Connaught Place area. They were then directed to a location that was deliberately made to appear legitimate, reportedly displaying “Incredible India” posters and featuring men dressed in shirts to project an air of authority. This location was presented as the only viable booking option.

At the false office, an attempt was made to sell the tourists an elaborate, overpriced India tour package that was organized by the agents. It was asserted that the travelers’ only available option was to book this private, expensive itinerary. The cost quoted for what should have been an inexpensive train journey was greatly inflated, and pressure tactics were immediately employed. The tourists were rushed into making a decision, and it was insisted that a booking be made “right now,” raising immediate suspicion.

Coordinated Scam Network Revealed

The woman stated that it was eventually understood by her that the entire scheme was a coordinated scam network. It was realized that auto-rickshaw drivers were being compensated a commission for transporting unsuspecting tourists to the fraudulent location. The realization was reportedly confirmed by the shocking reviews found online regarding the company and its various scams. Simple, safe alternatives for booking were subsequently identified and shared, including using official online platforms like IRCTC, 12Go Asia, or RedBus.

Warnings Issued and Vigilance Encouraged

Tourists have been warned about the prevalence of such scams, and the importance of trusting one’s own intuition has been emphasized. The woman recounted feeling deeply uncomfortable during the interaction, especially when one of the men became rude after the tour was refused. Her experience was shared to raise awareness and ensure that other travelers are not misled.

It was suggested that travelers run if they are told all public transport is cancelled and directed to an unverified “official office.” The video, which has been widely viewed, has sparked necessary dialogue about tourist safety and the need for greater vigilance when traveling abroad.
