The government on Monday released Rs 20 crore from the SDRF item to the Chamoli District Magistrate for ongoing relief and rescue operations in the disaster-affected area in Uttarakhand. This amount will compensate for the loss of life and property.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Secretary Disaster Management SA Murugesh issued orders in this regard. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat reached Tapovan to take stock of the relief and rescue operations. He took information from the authorities regarding the rescue operation. He will stay there at night. Before leaving, the Chief Minister also directed the Garhwal Commissioner and DIG Garhwal to camp in the disaster affected areas from Tuesday.
Uttarakhand Glacier Burst
After reaching the front of the Chief Minister, the government staff also became very active. He held a meeting with officials of IG, DIG, DM, SP, Army, and NTPC at the office of Tapovan Hrithik Company late in the evening. He was instructed to expedite the rescue operation. Earlier on Monday, the Chief Minister held a meeting with high officials.
The meeting took information about the causes of disaster, relief, and rescue operations. After the meeting, he directed to release 20 crore rupees from the SDRF item to Chamoli district for relief and rescue operations. Following his instruction, Secretary Disaster Management SA Murugeshan issued the order for the funds.
Union Ministers Visited And Took Damage
Union Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Union Energy Minister RK Singh also visited the disaster-affected area Raini and Tapovan at different times on Monday and took stock of the damage to life and property. Tirath Singh Rawat, MP from Garhwal, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of State for Higher Education also reached Tapovan and took stock of the situation. Director-General of Police Ashok Kumar has been camping there since Sunday.
The Soldiers Are On The Relief And Rescue Front
On the relief and rescue front, 70 teams of SDRF, 129 of NDRF, 425 personnel of ITBP, one team of SSB, 124 army personnel, two army medical teams, two medical teams of Health Department Uttarakhand are on the front.
One thousand ration packages and other supplies were sent to supply electricity and water around the affected area.
13 villages in Niti Valley have lost contact.
Ration, medical and everyday items are being transported through helicopters.
12 Lakh Approved
The Gangotri glacier will now be monitored by the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology in view of the potential disaster caused by glaciers. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat agreed to release Rs 12 lakh to the Wadia Institute for this.
The director of the Wadia Himalaya Institute of Geology had requested the state government to send a team to inspect the construction of any landslides or artificial lakes etc. in the Gangotri glacier area during the winter season. For this, the Wadia Institute had demanded Rs. 12 lakh from the state government. It was also informed that as per the recent order of the High Court it is also important to inspect the area during the winter season.
