The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a significant 53% increase in the prize pool for the tournament, making it the biggest ever for this prestigious event.
The winning team will walk away with a whopping $2.24 million, a testament to the growing popularity and financial success of cricket on the global stage. The total prize pool for the eight-team tournament has been increased to $6.9 million, a significant jump from the $4.5 million offered in the previous edition in 2017. This increase reflects the ICC’s confidence in the tournament’s ability to captivate audiences worldwide and contribute to the growth of cricket.
“Beyond the financial incentive, this tournament ignites fierce competition, captivates fans worldwide, and plays a vital role in fostering the growth and long-term sustainability of cricket for future generations,” Shah added.
While the winners will undoubtedly be thrilled with the $2.24 million prize, the rewards extend beyond just the top team. The runners-up will receive a commendable $1.12 million, while the losing semi-finalists will each take home $560,000.
Even group stage victories will be financially rewarding, with each win earning the team over $34,000. Teams finishing in fifth and sixth place will receive $350,000 each, while the seventh and eighth-placed teams will get $140,000. Additionally, all eight participating teams are guaranteed $125,000 for their participation in the tournament.
