New Delhi, December 20, 2025: India is trading gym walls for open skies and hitting the pavement before the sun fully peaks. According to the recently released Noise 2025 Wellness Report, the nation’s fitness landscape has undergone a dramatic transformation, moving away from short-term “resolutions” toward deep-rooted, daily habits.
The report, which analyzed anonymized data from millions of NoiseFit app users, reveals two standout statistics: Indians are taking 21% more morning steps than in previous years, and a staggering 90% now prefer outdoor workouts over indoor alternatives.
The data suggests that the “early bird” culture is no longer just for retirees. In 2025, young professionals and Gen Z are leading a shift toward morning activity. The 21% surge in morning steps highlights a growing commitment to starting the day with movement. This early-day discipline is helping many bypass the burnout often associated with late-evening gym sessions after a long workday.
Interestingly, while the weekdays are for hustle, the weekends are for intentional recovery. The report noted a 40% drop in steps and calories on Saturdays and Sundays. This shift indicates that Indians are becoming more “wellness-literate,” understanding that rest is just as vital as the workout itself.
Despite the rise of high-tech home gyms, 9 in 10 Indians now favor the outdoors. Whether it’s local parks, seaside promenades, or urban running tracks, the preference for fresh air (where quality permits) is dominant.
The scale of movement across the country is staggering. In 2025, Indians collectively walked 99 trillion steps. To put that in perspective, that is enough distance to travel to the Moon and back 85 times.
“We are witnessing a wellness paradigm shift,” says Amit Khatri, Co-founder of Noise. “The focus is no longer on aesthetics alone. Instead, Indians are investing in long-term wellbeing and longevity.”
| Metric | Trend |

As we move into the new year, the “Preventive Healthcare” trend is expected to grow. With wellness now viewed as a long-term investment rather than a quick fix, the integration of AI-driven personalization and wearable technology will likely make these healthy habits even more sustainable.
