Hyundai Motor India, the country’s second-largest car manufacturer, is gearing up for a significant expansion of its SUV portfolio. With a clear focus on catering to diverse customer needs and strengthening its market presence, the South Korean automaker has a slew of new and updated SUV models lined up for the Indian market in the coming years. Here are six highly anticipated Hyundai SUVs that Indian car enthusiasts can look forward to: 1. Next-Generation Hyundai Venue: The Hyundai Venue has been a popular subcompact SUV in India, and a next-generation model is expected to hit the roads by the end of 2025. While retaining the existing engine options (1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol, and 1.5L diesel), the new Venue (codenamed QU2i) will feature significant design changes, adopting a less angular and more contemporary look while maintaining its boxy proportions. The interior is also expected to receive a comprehensive makeover, possibly inspired by the latest Creta and Alcazar, including a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new digital driver’s display, and potentially a panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats. Furthermore, the 2026 Hyundai Venue might come equipped with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and front parking sensors, enhancing its safety and convenience features. 2. Hyundai Tucson Facelift: The globally unveiled facelifted Hyundai Tucson is anticipated to arrive in India either later this year or in early 2026. The refreshed SUV sports a redesigned grille, new-look skid plates, sharper lighting signatures, and updated alloy wheels, giving it a more modern and aggressive stance. Inside, the Tucson facelift boasts a revamped dashboard layout with a new curved display unit integrating the infotainment and instrument cluster screens. While the engine options are expected to remain the same (2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines with automatic transmissions), the updated Tucson could feature a larger infotainment system and enhanced safety technology. 3. Hyundai Ioniq 9: Showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 is poised to become the brand’s flagship electric SUV in India. Built on Hyundai’s E-GMP skateboard architecture (shared with the Kia EV9), this premium three-row EV is expected to be launched later this year, possibly as a fully imported model. In global markets, the Ioniq 9 is available in 6 and 7-seater configurations and offers a maximum range of up to 620km (WLTP) depending on the variant (Long-Range RWD, Long-Range AWD, and Performance). The India-spec model is expected to come loaded with advanced features and technology, positioning it at the top of Hyundai’s EV portfolio. 4. Hyundai Inster EV: Hyundai is reportedly developing a sub-4 meter electric SUV for the Indian market, likely to be launched in 2026. Drawing inspiration from the globally available Inster EV, this compact electric crossover (codenamed HE1i) will rival the Tata Punch EV. The global Inster EV comes with two battery pack options (42kWh and 49kWh) offering a range of 300km and 355km, respectively. Key features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, ADAS tech, and a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring. The India-spec Inster EV is expected to be manufactured at Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur plant and could be based on the company’s global and affordable E-GMP (K) platform. 5. Hyundai Seven-Seater Hybrid SUV (Ni1i): Hyundai is planning to introduce its first petrol-hybrid model in India, a seven-seater SUV codenamed Ni1i. This new model will be positioned between the Alcazar and the Tucson and is expected to feature a strong hybrid system, likely pairing a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine with an electric motor. Production of this SUV is slated to begin by 2027 at Hyundai’s Talegaon manufacturing facility, with an annual target of around 50,000 units. This move signifies Hyundai’s commitment to offering more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly options in the popular three-row SUV segment. 6. New-Generation Hyundai Creta (SX3): The current Hyundai Creta has been a consistent bestseller in the midsize SUV segment, and a new-generation model (codenamed SX3) is expected to debut in 2027. This new iteration is likely to undergo a complete exterior redesign and feature a thoroughly reimagined cabin with updated technologies and features. A significant change could be the introduction of a strong hybrid powertrain, possibly shared with the upcoming seven-seater hybrid SUV (Ni1i), while the existing 1.5L petrol and 1.5L direct-injection turbo petrol engines are also expected to be on offer. The new Creta aims to further solidify Hyundai’s dominance in this highly competitive segment. With these exciting new SUV models in the pipeline, Hyundai is poised to further strengthen its position in the Indian automotive market, offering a wide range of options to cater to the evolving preferences of Indian car buyers.
