New Delhi, November 21, 2025: A highly unusual and concerning scene that was captured on a passenger’s phone has recently gone viral. The video shows a woman cooking the popular instant noodles, Maggi, inside the compartment of an express train. The cooking process was performed using an electric water kettle, circumventing the standard rules regarding the use of personal appliances on board.

Safety Risks Identified

The method used for preparing the food was immediately flagged by netizens as a significant safety hazard. Concerns that the non-commercial electric kettle could trigger a short-circuit, potentially leading to a major fire inside the moving train coach, were widely expressed in the comments section. The electrical systems on passenger trains are not designed to safely handle the high and unauthorized load of personal heating appliances. The potential danger posed to hundreds of co-passengers was heavily emphasized.

Violations of Rail Rules Noted

The woman’s actions were quickly identified as a clear violation of Indian Railways rules and regulations. The use of any personal electrical appliance, such as kettles, immersion rods, or portable heaters, is strictly prohibited inside train compartments due to the fire risk. Warnings against carrying such items are often displayed prominently within the coaches. The fact that the activity was conducted openly and with apparent disregard for the rules was highlighted in the online criticism.

Public Debate on Accountability

The viral video has ignited a public debate not only about passenger awareness but also about the accountability of the railway staff. Questions were raised as to why the activity was not immediately noticed and stopped by the Ticket Examiner (TTE) or the coach attendant. The lack of supervision that was evidenced in the video was strongly criticized as a failure of operational safety. The incident is being used as a clear example of the risks that are taken by individuals when regulations are ignored.

Calls for Strict Action Issued

Following the widespread circulation of the video and the safety alarm that was raised, calls for the woman to be identified and for strict action to be taken against her have been issued by concerned citizens. The hope that the footage will be used by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to launch an investigation and enforce safety laws was expressed. The incident is serving as a vital warning that electrical safety standards must be upheld rigidly in crowded public transport environments to prevent a disaster.
