New Delhi, November 25, 2025: In a major relief for thousands of banking aspirants across the country, Punjab National Bank (PNB) has officially announced an extension for its massive recruitment drive for Local Bank Officer (LBO) posts. The deadline for online registration, which was initially set for November 23, 2025, has been extended.

Eligible candidates now have additional time to submit their applications, with the new, crucial cutoff date set for December 1, 2025. This extension applies to both the submission of the online application form and the payment of the application fee, giving prospective candidates a final opportunity to secure a role in one of India’s leading Public Sector Banks.

Recruitment Snapshot: 750 Officer Posts

The PNB LBO Recruitment 2025 aims to fill 750 vacancies for Local Bank Officers in the Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). This recruitment drive is specifically focused on strengthening the bank’s branch-level workforce by hiring experienced personnel who possess both professional competence and essential local language skills.

The Local Bank Officer role is a critical position, focusing on essential branch operations, customer support, lead generation, and ensuring regulatory compliance at the regional level. Selected candidates will be appointed to an officer-level position and will receive an attractive salary package, including a pay scale starting around ₹48,480 per month, plus other standard bank allowances.

Crucial Eligibility Criteria

Unlike many other entry-level bank recruitments, the PNB LBO position targets experienced candidates. To be considered eligible for the 750 vacancies, applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of one year of post-qualification experience in either a clerical or officer cadre in a Scheduled Commercial Bank (SCB) or a Regional Rural Bank (RRB) is essential.
  • Age Limit: The applicant’s age must be between 20 and 30 years as of July 1, 2025. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories (SC/ST, OBC, and PwBD) as per government rules.
  • Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient (reading, writing, and speaking) in the local language of the state they are applying for.

The Four-Stage Selection Process

The selection process for the Local Bank Officer post is rigorous, designed to assess both professional aptitude and regional suitability. It comprises four main stages:

  1. Online Written Test: This is the first hurdle, covering subjects like Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, Data Analysis & Interpretation, and English Language. The test is expected to be conducted tentatively in December 2025 or January 2026.
  2. Document Screening: Candidates who qualify the written test will undergo a thorough screening of their application and experience documents.
  3. Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Given the nature of the LBO role, a mandatory LPT will be conducted to ensure candidates meet the local language requirement of the state they have opted for.
  4. Personal Interview: The final stage involves a personal interview to assess the candidate’s communication skills, banking knowledge, and suitability for the officer role.

Candidates belonging to the General/OBC/EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹1180/- (including GST), while the fee for SC/ST/PwBD candidates is ₹59/-.

Final Call to Action

With the deadline now officially pushed to December 1, 2025, aspiring officers who were preparing their documentation or experience certificates have a final window to apply.

Candidates are strongly advised to visit the official Punjab National Bank recruitment portal, read the detailed official corrigendum and notification carefully, and complete their online application process well before the midnight cutoff on December 1, 2025, to avoid any last-minute technical difficulties.
