December 25, 2025: In a move to curb reckless behavior on public roads, the Uttar Pradesh Police have issued a hefty fine of ₹31,000 against a group of youths caught performing a dangerous stunt on a motorcycle. The action follows a video that went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage over the blatant disregard for traffic safety.
The footage, which surfaced earlier this week, shows five boys precariously balanced on a single motorcycle. Not only was the vehicle severely overloaded, but the riders were seen weaving through traffic without helmets or any safety gear. The video, reportedly filmed in the Pilkhuwa area of Hapur district, quickly caught the attention of netizens who tagged the state police, demanding strict action against the offenders for endangering their lives and those of other commuters.
Responding swiftly to the social media outcry, the Pilkhuwa Kotwali Police identified the vehicle through its registration number visible in the clip. Authorities confirmed that a “challan” (traffic fine) amounting to ₹31,000 was issued under multiple sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The violations cited by the traffic department include:
“Safety on our roads is non-negotiable. Such stunts are not a show of bravery but a display of negligence. We urge the youth to value their lives and follow traffic rules to avoid such heavy penalties and potential tragedies,” a senior police official stated.
This incident is part of a worrying trend where young individuals perform life-threatening stunts on busy highways to gain traction on social media platforms. The Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified their digital surveillance, frequently using viral content to track down and penalize “stunt riders” who compromise road safety for digital fame.
Traffic authorities have reiterated that overloading a motorcycle significantly impacts its braking and balance, making it prone to fatal accidents. With the implementation of the revised Motor Vehicles Act, fines have been significantly increased to act as a deterrent.
The UP Police continue to encourage citizens to report such violations by sharing videos or photos through the official ‘UP 112’ app or their social media handles.
