New Delhi, December 27, 2025: In a significant legal development regarding the tragic 2024 premiere of the blockbuster film Pushpa 2: The Rule, the Hyderabad Police have officially named South Indian superstar Allu Arjun as one of the 23 accused in their comprehensive chargesheet.

The document, spanning approximately 100 pages, was filed by the Chikkadpally police and submitted to the court on December 24, 2025. It marks a critical turning point in the investigation into the stampede at Sandhya Theatre that claimed one life and left a child critically injured.

Key Details of the Chargesheet

The chargesheet identifies a total of 23 individuals responsible for the lapse in security and crowd management.

  • Allu Arjun (Accused No. 11): The actor is listed as A-11. The police investigation suggests that his unannounced arrival at the theatre triggered an uncontrollable surge among the thousands of fans gathered at the RTC X Roads.
  • Theatre Management (Accused No. 1): The management of Sandhya Theatre has been named as the primary accused (A-1). The police cited “gross negligence,” including the failure to inform authorities of the actor’s attendance and the installation of unauthorized banners that blocked exit routes.
  • Security & Staff: The list also includes Allu Arjun’s personal security team, his managers, theatre staff, and several private bouncers.

Background of the Tragedy

The incident occurred on the night of December 4, 2024, during a high-profile “benefit show” for the film’s release. As Allu Arjun arrived to greet his fans, the massive crowd pushed forward, leading to a chaotic stampede.

In the ensuing crush, 35-year-old M. Revathi lost her life. Her nine-year-old son, Sritej, was critically injured and spent five months in medical care before being discharged. Reports indicate that the police had to resort to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd, which critics and human rights organizations, including the NHRC, have scrutinized for being part of the systemic failure.

Lapses Identified by Police

Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar stated that the probe revealed a complete lack of coordination between the organizers and local law enforcement. Key findings include:

  • Lack of Permission: The event organizers reportedly did not have the required permissions for a large-scale public appearance.
  • Security Failures: There was an absence of adequate private security at the main gates despite the known popularity of the star.
  • Crowd Mismanagement: The theatre was overcrowded beyond its legal capacity, and emergency protocols were not followed.

The Road Ahead

Allu Arjun was briefly arrested in December 2024 but was released on bail following a Telangana High Court order. While the actor has since extended financial support to the victim’s family—contributing ₹1 crore alongside donations from the film’s producers—the legal battle is now moving into a formal trial phase.
