New Delhi, December 29, 2025: A high-tension incident at the Ayer Keroh Overpass Rest and Service Area (R&R) has dominated Malaysian social media today following the release of a dramatic one-minute viral video. On the evening of Sunday, December 28, 2025, a heavy trailer truck was observed attempting to navigate a tight bend near the heavy vehicle parking zone. The maneuver resulted in a series of collisions as the trailer sideswiped three private vehicles—two Perodua Alzas and a Proton Iriz—that had been parked along the road shoulder.
The viral footage, which has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, captures the trailer struggling to clear the curve due to the placement of the parked cars. It was noted by witnesses and digital commentators that the vehicles were allegedly parked on a designated lorry lane or a “yellow line” zone, effectively narrowing the path for larger transport vehicles. The video shows the rear end of the trailer scraping against the cars, causing significant damage to their left sides and bumpers as the driver forced the vehicle through to clear a growing traffic jam behind him.

An official investigation into the incident was confirmed on December 29, 2025, by Alor Gajah District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar. The case is reportedly being handled by the Bukit Aman Highway Patrol Investigation Unit (USLR). While one vehicle owner has already lodged a formal report, authorities are still waiting for the remaining two owners to come forward. The investigation is expected to focus on both the trailer driver’s conduct and the legality of where the private vehicles were stationed at the time of the crash.
The aftermath of the collision was marked by a flurry of activity from bystanders and other R&R visitors. In the viral clips, a group of people was observed attempting to manually push the damaged cars toward the grassy verge to prevent further collisions and allow the bottlenecked traffic to flow. The incident occurred during the busy year-end holiday period, a time when Malaysia’s highways are under peak load, making the blockage at the Ayer Keroh R&R a significant disruption for hundreds of travelers.
As the year 2025 concludes, this incident has reignited the debate on highway etiquette and the dangers of improper parking at rest stops. It was argued by road safety advocates that R&R areas are specifically zoned to accommodate the large turning radii of heavy vehicles, and obstructing these lanes poses a grave risk to all road users. The Alor Gajah Police have urged motorists to adhere to parking regulations, especially during the upcoming New Year weekend, to avoid similar “avoidable tragedies” on the North-South Expressway.
