New Delhi, January 5, 2026: Public outrage was ignited in Karachi following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media platforms involving an act of public indecency. The footage, which began trending in late 2025, depicted a middle-aged man on a motorcycle performing an inappropriate and lewd act in broad daylight. The incident took place on the heavily congested University Road, a major artery frequently used by students and staff of the University of Karachi and NED University, leading to immediate demands for police intervention.
The video was observed being recorded by a passenger in a nearby vehicle who was shocked by the blatant disregard for public morality. Through the viral clip, the motorcycle’s registration number was clearly identified by digital forensic teams. This evidence was utilized by the East Zone Police to track the suspect’s residence. It was reported that the rapid spread of the video played a crucial role in mounting pressure on law enforcement to prioritize the case and ensure the perpetrator did not remain at large.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the arrested individual under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code related to public obscenity and creating a nuisance. It was remarked by women’s rights activists that such incidents highlight the persistent challenges regarding the safety of female students and commuters in Karachi. The police have been urged by the public to increase patrolling near University Road to prevent similar acts of harassment and to ensure a secure environment for all citizens.
The arrest has been hailed by the local community as a necessary step toward upholding social values and maintaining public order. A stern warning was issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East, stating that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found engaging in vulgarity or harassment on the streets of Karachi. As 2026 begins, the case serves as a reminder of the power of social media in assisting law enforcement, provided that digital evidence is used responsibly to bring offenders to justice.
