New Delhi, january 09, 2026: In an ambitious move to redefine the premium compact segment in India, BMW Group has announced a major product offensive for the MINI brand in 2026. With a roadmap featuring 10 new models and variants, the British marque is shifting gears toward an electric-centric future while maintaining its iconic “go-kart” driving dynamics for petrol enthusiasts.

This strategic expansion aims to double MINI’s sales in India, transitioning the brand from a niche enthusiast choice to a primary lifestyle statement for urban luxury buyers.

1. The All-New MINI Cooper S (ICE)

The heart of the brand remains the 3-Door Cooper. The latest generation (F66) has arrived with a “Charismatic Simplicity” design language. The Cooper S continues to lead the internal combustion engine (ICE) lineup with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine.

  • Performance: 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque.
  • USP: Minimalist octagonal grille and the iconic circular OLED display inside.

2. MINI Cooper C (Petrol)

Serving as the entry point for the new generation, the Cooper C offers a more balanced performance profile for city driving. It retains the premium interior of the ‘S’ but with a more fuel-efficient powertrain, targeting those who prioritize style and agility over raw track speed.

3. The First-Ever MINI Cooper SE (Electric)

The electric revolution is spearheaded by the Cooper SE. Built on a dedicated EV platform, it offers a significant leap in range and technology over its predecessor.

  • Range: Up to 402 km (WLTP) on a single charge.
  • Key Tech: Fast DC charging that can juice the battery from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes.

4. MINI Cooper E (Electric)

A slightly more accessible electric variant, the Cooper E, is slated to join the lineup. It features a smaller battery pack (approx. 40.7 kWh) but retains the high-torque, zippy nature that makes electric MINIs ideal for Indian urban traffic.

5. The All-New MINI Aceman

Positioned between the Cooper and the Countryman, the Aceman is MINI’s first-ever electric-only crossover. It fills the gap for customers who find the Cooper too small and the Countryman too large.

  • Design: Rugged styling with squared-off wheel arches and 5-door practicality.
  • India Impact: It is expected to be a volume driver in the premium electric crossover space.

6. MINI Countryman SE All4 (Electric)

The largest MINI is now also the most powerful electric offering in the stable. The Countryman SE All4 features an all-wheel-drive system powered by dual motors.

  • Specs: 313 hp and 494 Nm of torque.
  • Practicality: A massive 460-litre boot and a range of 433 km, making it a viable car for luxury weekend getaways.

7. MINI Countryman JCW (John Cooper Works)

For the performance purist, the John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman is the crown jewel of the petrol range. It is the only variant in the new Countryman lineup to feature a high-performance combustion engine.

  • Acceleration: 0–100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.
  • Vibe: Quad exhaust pipes, racing-inspired seats, and a specialized “Go-Kart” mode.

8. MINI Cooper 5-Door (New Gen)

Recognizing the Indian market’s preference for practicality, the New Gen 5-Door Cooper is a critical launch. It offers the classic Cooper look but with an extended wheelbase, providing much-needed legroom and easier rear-seat access for small families.

9. MINI Cooper Convertible

Launched late in the cycle but coming into full production this year, the New MINI Convertible offers “infinite headroom.” It features a fully electric soft top that can open in 18 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 30 km/h.

10. JCW Special Editions & Performance Packs

Rounding off the 10-car list are the John Cooper Works Special Editions. MINI India’s CEO, Hardeep Singh Brar, confirmed that “Special Editions” will play a major role this year. These will likely include limited-run “JCW Packs” for the Cooper S and potentially a JCW version of the electric Cooper, featuring bespoke paint schemes and aerodynamic upgrades.

Technology & Interior Highlights

The entire 2026 lineup moves away from traditional clusters toward a High-Resolution Circular OLED Display. This 240mm diameter screen acts as both the instrument cluster and the infotainment hub, running the new MINI Operating System 9.

Market Strategy: Why 10 Models?

MINI’s strategy in India is evolving. With a high percentage of women buyers and a growing demographic of “lifestyle collectors,” the brand is doubling down on variety. By offering a mix of ICE and EV across three different body styles (Hatch, Crossover, SUV), MINI is ensuring they have a competitor for every price point in the Rs. 45 lakh to Rs. 75 lakh segment.
