January 9, 2026 — The wait for one of India’s most anticipated micro-SUV updates is nearly over. Ahead of its official market launch on January 13, 2026, the Tata Punch Facelift, including the highly popular iCNG variants, has begun arriving at authorized dealerships across the country.

This mid-cycle refresh marks the first significant overhaul for the Punch since its debut in 2021. With a sharper design inspired by its electric sibling, a more premium cabin, and the introduction of a new turbocharged engine, Tata Motors aims to solidify the Punch’s position as a segment leader.

Refreshed Aesthetics: Inspired by the EV

The 2026 Tata Punch facelift undergoes a major cosmetic transformation, particularly at the front. The new face adopts a “digital” design language previously seen on the Punch EV. Key highlights include:

  • Sleeker Lighting: Slimmer LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) now sit atop a redesigned, closed-off upper grille.
  • Stacked Headlamps: The main headlamp units are now vertically stacked LED projectors housed in a more angular bumper.
  • Modern Rear Profile: At the back, the SUV gains connected LED taillamps and a revised bumper with silver skid plates, giving it a wider and more premium stance.
  • New Color Palette: Dealership units have been spotted in a fresh “Coorg Clouds” silver. Other new shades include Cyantafic Blue, Bengal Rouge (Red), and Caramel (Yellow).

Interior Overhaul and Tech Upgrades

The cabin has received a substantial tech boost to compete with rivals like the Hyundai Exter. The most notable change is the inclusion of the 10.25-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system featuring a newer user interface and wireless smartphone connectivity.

Key Interior Features:

  • New Steering Wheel: A two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo (similar to the Nexon and Curvv).
  • Digital Cockpit: Higher trims now feature a 7-inch digital driver’s display.
  • Touch-based Controls: The physical AC buttons have been replaced by a sleek, touch-sensitive panel with toggle switches for fan speed and temperature.
  • Enhanced Comfort: Added features include ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

Powertrain: iCNG and a New Turbo Option

The model spotted at dealerships confirms the continuation of Tata’s innovative Twin-Cylinder iCNG technology. This setup allows for a functional boot space by utilizing two smaller cylinders tucked under the luggage floor, offering a generous 210 liters of cargo room even in CNG mode.

For the first time, Tata is introducing a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (borrowed from the Altroz Racer) to the Punch lineup, catering to enthusiasts looking for more punchy performance in a compact footprint.

Safety as Standard

Tata Motors continues to prioritize safety, with reports suggesting that six airbags will now be standard across the entire variant lineup. Additional safety tech includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The Punch already holds a prestigious 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP.

Expected Pricing and Competition

The Tata Punch Facelift is expected to be priced competitively, with an estimated starting price of ₹6.00 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-tier turbo-petrol and CNG variants could reach up to ₹11.00 lakh.

Once launched next week, it will renew its rivalry with the Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, and Citroen C3, as well as lower variants of the Maruti Fronx and Nissan Magnite.
