January 9, 2026 — The wait for one of India’s most anticipated micro-SUV updates is nearly over. Ahead of its official market launch on January 13, 2026, the Tata Punch Facelift, including the highly popular iCNG variants, has begun arriving at authorized dealerships across the country.
This mid-cycle refresh marks the first significant overhaul for the Punch since its debut in 2021. With a sharper design inspired by its electric sibling, a more premium cabin, and the introduction of a new turbocharged engine, Tata Motors aims to solidify the Punch’s position as a segment leader.
The 2026 Tata Punch facelift undergoes a major cosmetic transformation, particularly at the front. The new face adopts a “digital” design language previously seen on the Punch EV. Key highlights include:
The cabin has received a substantial tech boost to compete with rivals like the Hyundai Exter. The most notable change is the inclusion of the 10.25-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system featuring a newer user interface and wireless smartphone connectivity.
The model spotted at dealerships confirms the continuation of Tata’s innovative Twin-Cylinder iCNG technology. This setup allows for a functional boot space by utilizing two smaller cylinders tucked under the luggage floor, offering a generous 210 liters of cargo room even in CNG mode.
For the first time, Tata is introducing a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (borrowed from the Altroz Racer) to the Punch lineup, catering to enthusiasts looking for more punchy performance in a compact footprint.
Tata Motors continues to prioritize safety, with reports suggesting that six airbags will now be standard across the entire variant lineup. Additional safety tech includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The Punch already holds a prestigious 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP.
The Tata Punch Facelift is expected to be priced competitively, with an estimated starting price of ₹6.00 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-tier turbo-petrol and CNG variants could reach up to ₹11.00 lakh.
Once launched next week, it will renew its rivalry with the Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, and Citroen C3, as well as lower variants of the Maruti Fronx and Nissan Magnite.
