New Delhi, December 18, 2025: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a premier “Global 500” energy major, is currently accepting applications for its 2025–26 apprenticeship drive. With 2,785 vacancies available across its refinery divisions, this recruitment offers a significant opportunity for young aspirants to gain hands-on experience in the oil and gas sector.

Key Dates to Remember

The application window is reaching its final phase for several regions. Candidates are advised to complete their submissions well before the server cutoff to avoid last-minute technical issues.

Vacancy Distribution and Roles

The 2,785 posts are spread across major IOCL refinery units, including Guwahati, Barauni, Gujarat, Haldia, Mathura, Panipat, Digboi, Bongaigaon, and Paradip. The engagement covers three primary categories:

  1. Trade Apprentice: Focuses on ITI-qualified candidates in trades like Fitter, Electrician, and Electronic Mechanic.
  2. Technician Apprentice: Aimed at Diploma holders in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc.).
  3. Graduate Apprentice: For those with a B.A., B.Com., or B.Sc. degree to serve in non-technical or administrative roles.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the IOCL Apprentice program, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Age Limit: Minimum 18 years and maximum 24 years as of November 30, 2025.
    • Relaxation: SC/ST (5 years), OBC-NCL (3 years), and PwBD (up to 10-15 years) receive age relaxations as per government norms.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Trade Apprentice: Class 10/Matric plus a regular, full-time ITI certificate.
    • Technician Apprentice: A 3-year full-time Diploma in the relevant engineering branch with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).
    • Graduate Apprentice: A full-time degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • Work Experience: Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training or have one year or more of work experience after obtaining the relevant qualification are not eligible.

Selection Process

Unlike many public sector recruitments, the selection for these 2,785 posts is primarily merit-based.

  1. Merit Listing: Candidates are shortlisted based on the aggregate marks obtained in their qualifying examination (ITI/Diploma/Degree).
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must present original certificates for scrutiny.
  3. Medical Examination: Final selection is subject to meeting the physical fitness standards prescribed by the corporation.
