New Delhi, january 24, 2026: The Space Applications Centre (SAC), a premier unit of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) based in Ahmedabad, has officially opened its doors for talented engineers and scientists. The 2026 recruitment drive (Advt. No. SAC:01:2026) aims to fill 49 key vacancies for Group ‘A’ Gazetted posts.

This is a golden opportunity for Indian nationals holding advanced degrees in Engineering and Science to join India’s space program, with a pay scale reaching as high as ₹2,08,700 per month.

Vacancy Breakdown and Salary Structure

The recruitment is primarily focused on two levels of the Scientist/Engineer cadre. Beyond the attractive basic pay, selected candidates are entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance as per Government of India rules.

Educational Eligibility

ISRO is looking for specialists across a wide range of technical domains. The core requirements include:

  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SD’: Typically requires a Ph.D. in relevant fields such as RF & Microwave, Wireless Communication, or Agricultural Physics.
  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’: Requires an M.E./M.Tech or M.Sc. in disciplines including:
    • Electronics & Communication / VLSI / Embedded Systems
    • Computer Science / AI & Machine Learning / Data Science
    • Power Electronics
    • Agriculture / Statistics / Mathematics
    • Marine Biology / Physical Oceanography

Age Limit (as of February 12, 2026)

  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SD’: 18 to 35 years.
  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ (M.E./M.Tech based): 18 to 30 years.
  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ (M.Sc. based): 18 to 28 years.
  • Age relaxations apply for SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen as per government norms.

How to Apply

The application process is entirely online and follows a two-step registration method:

  1. ISRO Live Register: Candidates must first register or update their profile on the ISRO Live Register.
  2. SAC Career Portal: Complete the specific application on careers.sac.gov.in.
  3. Fee Payment: A fee of ₹750 is applicable for Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ posts. However, there is a refund policy for candidates who appear for the written test (full refund for women, SC/ST, and PwBD; ₹500 refund for others).

  • Start Date for Online Registration: January 23, 2026 (10:00 AM)
  • Last Date for Submission: February 12, 2026 (5:00 PM)

Selection Process

The selection will involve a Computer Based Test (CBT) to evaluate technical knowledge, followed by a Personal Interview for shortlisted candidates.
