New Delhi | February 5, 2026 — The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the results for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) December 2025 session. Aspirants who appeared for the prestigious national-level eligibility exam can now access their scorecards through the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

The declaration brings an end to the wait for nearly 10 lakh registered candidates. The exams were conducted across the country between December 31, 2025, and January 7, 2026, covering 85 diverse subjects in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

Key Highlights of the December 2025 Results

According to the official data released by the NTA, the examination saw a significant turnout. Here are the primary statistics:

  • Total Registered Candidates: 9,93,702
  • Total Appeared Candidates: 7,35,614
  • Total Qualified Candidates: 1,76,879
  • Category breakdown of qualified candidates:
    • JRF & Assistant Professor: 5,108
    • Assistant Professor & PhD Admission: 54,713
    • PhD Admission Only: 1,17,058

This session marks a continued trend of high participation from female candidates, who made up approximately 58.9% of the total registrations.

Subject-Wise Cut-Off Trends

Along with the results, the NTA has published the subject-wise and category-wise cut-off marks. As expected, competitive subjects like Economics, Political Science, and Psychology saw high benchmarks for the Unreserved (UR) category.

How to Check Your UGC NET Result 2025

Candidates can follow these simple steps to download their digital scorecard:

  1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
  2. Locate the Link: Under the “Candidate Activity” section, click on Results for UGC-NET Dec 2025.”
  3. Enter Credentials: Provide your Application Number and Date of Birth (or Password).
  4. Security Pin: Enter the captcha code shown on the screen and click “Submit.”
  5. View and Save: Your result will appear on the screen. Download the PDF and take a printout for future recruitment and admission processes.

What’s Next for Qualified Candidates?

  • JRF Award Letter: Successful JRF candidates will soon be able to download their award letters. These are typically valid for three years from the date of issue for joining a PhD program.
  • E-Certificates: The NTA will issue e-certificates for Assistant Professor eligibility shortly. These carry lifetime validity.
  • PhD Admissions: Under the revised UGC policy, NET scores are now valid for one year for those seeking PhD admissions only (Category 2 and 3).

For those who did not qualify this time, the notification for the June 2026 cycle is expected to be released in April 2026.
