March 19, 2026 – The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has officially opened the online registration portal for the Joint Entrance Lateral Entry Test (JELET) 2026 today, March 19. Eligible candidates seeking direct admission into the second year (third semester) of Bachelor’s degree courses in Engineering, Technology, and Pharmacy across universities and government/self-financing colleges in West Bengal can now submit their applications.

Eligibility Criteria
The JELET examination is a specialized gateway for diploma holders and B.Sc. graduates. The primary eligibility requirements include:
Educational Qualification: * Engineering/Technology: Candidates must hold a Diploma in Engineering/Technology from an AICTE-recognized institution with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD).
Pharmacy: Candidates must have a Diploma in Pharmacy from a PCI-approved institution with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories).
B.Sc. Graduates: Must have passed B.Sc. from a UGC-recognized university with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) and must have passed Mathematics as a subject in the 10+2 level.
Age Limit: * Diploma Holders: No upper age limit (except for Marine Engineering, which is 25 years).
B.Sc. Candidates: The upper age limit is 27 years as of December 31, 2026.
Application Fee Structure
The application fee varies based on category and gender. Payments must be made online via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.
General Male: ₹500
General Female / SC, ST, OBC (Male): ₹400
SC, ST, OBC, PwD (Female) / General Third Gender: ₹300
SC, ST, OBC, PwD (Third Gender): ₹200
Examination Pattern
The JELET 2026 will be an OMR-based (offline) test consisting of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The paper is divided into two categories:
Category 1 (80 Questions): Each correct answer carries 1 mark. A negative marking of 1/4 (0.25) is applicable for every wrong answer.
Category 2 (20 Questions): Each question carries 2 marks. These may have one or more correct options. There is no negative marking in this category.
The subjects covered include Mathematics (50 marks), Physics (35 marks), Chemistry (25 marks), and Fundamentals of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (10 marks), totaling 120 marks.
