New Delhi, December 18, 2025: The buzz around Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur’s upcoming film, Dacoit, reached a fever pitch today as the makers officially unveiled the teaser. Released on Thursday, December 18, 2025—coinciding with Sesh’s birthday—the high-octane glimpse promises a racy blend of romance, betrayal, and stylish heist action.
Directed by Shaneil Deo and produced by Annapurna Studios, the film is being billed as an intense “crime-romance” that marks a significant departure for both lead actors.
The teaser opens with an intriguing setup: Adivi Sesh’s character is seen planning a heist, persuading Mrunal Thakur’s character, Juliet, to join him in “messing with those who messed with her.” What follows is a whirlwind of stylized chaos.
One of the most talked-about elements of the teaser is the inclusion of a remixed version of the iconic song “Kanne Pettaro” from Nagarjuna’s 1994 hit Hello Brother. The track provides a nostalgic yet energetic backdrop to scenes of Mrunal Thakur behind the wheel in a high-speed car chase and Sesh engaged in gritty hand-to-hand combat.
While the action is front and center, the teaser hints at a deep emotional core. Sesh and Mrunal play former lovers who are forced to reunite for a series of robberies. The narrative suggests a fractured relationship, with Sesh’s character eventually landing in prison and returning with a chilling promise: “I’m here to destroy you.”
Adding to the film’s “pan-India” appeal is the presence of Anurag Kashyap, who makes his Telugu debut as a formidable antagonist. Kashyap plays a police officer and Ayyappa devotee, a role he described as a “fun and challenging” balance of duty and dharma. The film also features a powerhouse supporting cast, including:
Originally slated for a December 2025 release, Dacoit has been pushed to next year to ensure a grand arrival. The film is now officially scheduled to hit theaters on March 19, 2026, coinciding with the Ugadi festival.
The new date sets up a massive box office showdown. Dacoit is expected to clash with two other heavyweights: Yash’s period gangster epic Toxic and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2. During the teaser launch in Hyderabad, Sesh addressed the competition with confidence, comparing his film to a “goldfish in the sea”—small but vibrant and unique.
With its sleek visuals, “Bonnie and Clyde” energy, and a heavy dose of revenge, Dacoit looks set to be one of the most stylish thrillers of 2026.
