Television actress Gulki Joshi, known for her roles in popular shows like “Phir Subah Hogi” and “Nadaan Parindey Ghar Aaja,” recently recounted a terrifying experience where she narrowly escaped molestation while attending an event to present an award to cricket icon MS Dhoni in his hometown, Ranchi.
In a candid conversation on the YouTube channel Filmymantra, Joshi revisited the distressing incident that occurred several years ago. She explained that her presence at the IPL event was due to the immense popularity of her show “Nadaan Parindey” at the time. However, the excitement of the crowd soon turned into a frightening ordeal.
“As soon as I stepped outside [the event venue], I was completely mobbed by a crowd,” Joshi recounted, her voice tinged with the lingering fear of the memory. “Mobbed to the level of being scared. It wasn’t just excitement—it became physically overwhelming to the point where I genuinely felt threatened. Amid the pushing, shoving, and chaos, the horrifying thought crossed my mind that I could be molested right there in the crowd.”
The actress detailed the sheer intensity of the situation, emphasizing that it went beyond the usual fan frenzy. The physicality of the crowd became aggressive, leaving her feeling vulnerable and deeply unsafe.
“Thankfully, security personnel intervened at the right moment,” Joshi continued, expressing her gratitude. “Just as things were spiraling out of control, the security team arrived and somehow managed to pull me out of the mob. They whisked me away to safety. But the fear lingered. It shook me. That was the only time I’ve ever truly been afraid of the crowd, of the people.”
Despite the traumatic close call, Joshi shared a contrasting and heartwarming memory of meeting MS Dhoni himself. “When I met Mr. Dhoni, he was everything you’d hope a hero to be—humble, warm, and grounded,” she said with admiration. “Even though he must have been exhausted after the match, he patiently met every fan, smiled, took pictures, and made everyone feel special. In that moment, I realised what true talent with humility looks like. No arrogance, no drama—just pure, unfiltered humility. It really stayed with me. It reminded me that real talent shines the brightest when it’s combined with real humility.”
Joshi’s revelation highlights the often-unseen challenges that public figures, particularly female celebrities, can face in large crowds and the importance of adequate security measures. Her experience serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking amidst enthusiastic gatherings and the need for greater awareness and preventative action.
On the professional front, Gulki Joshi was last seen in the web series “Hasratein 2.” Her brave recounting of this past incident is sure to resonate with many and spark conversations about safety and respect in public spaces.
