New Delhi, january 22, 2026: In a family drama that seems to have more sequels than a Bollywood franchise, the veteran superstar Govinda and his comedian-nephew Krushna Abhishek are back in the headlines. Just as fans thought the famous “Mama-Bhanja” duo had finally buried the hatchet, a fresh set of statements has reignited discussions about their complex relationship.
The latest chapter began when Govinda, in a candid interaction, claimed that Krushna is often “forced” by television writers to crack jokes that insult him. Govinda suggested that his nephew is being used as a tool to tarnish his image, stating that while he has warned Krushna to be cautious, the writers continue to push a narrative of disrespect for the sake of TRPs.
Govinda even hinted at a larger “conspiracy,” suggesting that people in the industry are trying to create a negative perception of him, especially following his recent foray into politics with the Shiv Sena.
When reached for a reaction, Krushna Abhishek chose to take the high road, maintaining the respect he has always publicly held for his uncle. Rather than retaliating, Krushna offered a perspective that was both diplomatic and deeply affectionate.
“I love Govinda mama and respect him. He is a legend and has next-level thoughts,” Krushna remarked.
He explained that Govinda’s unique way of thinking might be why he perceives things differently. “The same statement can look positive or sarcastic to different people. I take it in a positive way,” he added, essentially dismissing the idea of any malicious intent behind his comedy or the scripts he performs.
This development comes as a surprise to many, as 2024 and 2025 seemed to be the years of healing for the family. The ice famously began to melt after Govinda’s accidental leg injury in late 2024, which saw Krushna’s wife, Kashmera Shah, and later Krushna himself, visiting the actor’s home.
The reconciliation appeared complete when the duo shared an emotional hug on The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, where Krushna tearfully apologized for any past misunderstandings. However, Govinda’s recent comments suggest that while the “Vanvas” (exile) might be over, the scars of their seven-year feud haven’t fully faded.
No discussion of this feud is complete without mentioning the wives. While Sunita Ahuja (Govinda’s wife) recently expressed a desire for the children to “laugh and play” and move past the 2016 rift, Govinda noted that she often gets upset when he tries to advise Krushna about his TV scripts. It seems the internal family dynamics remain a delicate balancing act of egos, love, and professional boundaries.
As of now, Krushna remains steadfast in his stance: Govinda is his “Hero No. 1,” and no script can change that. Whether this is a minor bump in their journey or the start of another “cool-off” period remains to be seen.
