New Delhi, january 27, 2026: Noted Tollywood actress and former Member of Parliament, Mimi Chakraborty, has initiated legal proceedings following an incident of alleged public harassment and humiliation during a live performance in Bongaon, North 24 Parganas.
The incident occurred late Sunday night, January 25, 2026, during a cultural program organized by the Naya Gopal Gunj Yubak Sango Club. According to the actress, the situation escalated when she was abruptly forced to stop her performance and vacate the stage in front of a large audience.
Taking to social media on Republic Day, Chakraborty expressed her deep distress, linking the incident to the broader struggle for the dignity of women and artists in India. She alleged that while she was performing, an organizer—identified in her complaint as Tanmay Shastri—climbed onto the stage and ordered her to leave without any prior communication.
“Mid-performance, I was abruptly asked to leave the stage… followed by derogatory remarks on the microphone. This was not just humiliating; it defamed me publicly,” Chakraborty stated in her post.
The actress emphasized that she chose to leave the venue quietly to maintain decorum but decided to pursue the matter legally to ensure such behavior is not normalized. She has since filed an official complaint via email with the Bongaon Police Station.
In response to the allegations, the organizers have denied any intent to harass or humiliate the actress. Tanmay Shastri, representing the club, claimed the decision to halt the program was strictly due to administrative and time constraints.
The club further alleged that the actress’s security personnel misbehaved with club members, including women who were on stage for a felicitation ceremony. However, they expressed regret if there was any “miscommunication” that led the actress to feel insulted.
