Excitement is building for Salman Khan‘s upcoming film, ‘Battle of Galwan,’ a patriotic war drama that has already generated significant buzz with its intriguing first-look poster. The film is set to delve into the harrowing events of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops, with Salman Khan reportedly taking on the pivotal role of the late Colonel B Santosh Babu. Chitrangada Singh is also slated to play a significant character in the movie.

Skipping the Eid Release?

For years, Salman Khan’s films have been synonymous with Eid releases, a strategic choice that has become almost a tradition for the superstar. However, recent reports suggest that ‘Battle of Galwan‘ might break this pattern and will not hit cinemas on Eid in 2026. The primary reason for this deviation appears to be the already crowded release calendar for Eid 2026, which currently features three major productions: Yash’s ‘Toxic,’ the comedy film ‘Dhamaal 4,’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic drama ‘Love & War,’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.

Sources indicate that the filmmakers are keen to avoid a direct box office clash with these highly anticipated films, aiming for a clearer window to maximize ‘Battle of Galwan’s’ theatrical run.

Potential Release Dates

According to industry insiders, the makers of ‘Battle of Galwan’ are currently evaluating two potential release windows for the film: January 2026 or June 2026.

The film’s shooting is reportedly scheduled to commence in August 2025 and is expected to be wrapped up within a brisk 55-60 days. If the post-production phase proceeds efficiently, an early 2026 release in January could be a possibility. However, if the extensive post-production work, which is common for war dramas, requires more time, then June 2026 is likely to be the chosen release month.

Furthermore, there are indications that a Bakri Eid release (which falls on May 27 next year) is also unlikely, as it coincides closely with the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on May 31. The filmmakers are expected to make an official announcement regarding the definitive release date soon.

With ‘Sikandar’ already announced and now ‘Battle of Galwan’ in the pipeline, Salman Khan’s fans have much to look forward to. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, with music by Himesh Reshammiya, this patriotic war drama promises to be a powerful cinematic tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian armed forces. The anticipation surrounding its release remains high, as audiences await to see how this gripping real-life story unfolds on the big screen and impacts the box office.
