New Delhi, October 13, 2025: A recent clip from the television show Bigg Boss 19’s ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode, where the host, Salman Khan, sarcastically addressed allegations made by filmmaker AR Murugadoss, has rapidly gone viral across social media platforms. The actor’s remarks were made in response to Murugadoss’s claims that Khan’s late arrival on the set of their film Sikandar was a primary factor in its box office underperformance.

The Allegations and The Counter-Jab

Murugadoss’s original comments, which were widely reported in the media, suggested that the star’s alleged unprofessionalism and late timings—sometimes arriving at 9 PM for a day shoot—significantly hampered the production and ultimately contributed to the film’s failure. It was claimed that scenes planned for the day had to be shot at night using artificial lighting and heavy post-production work.

During a segment on Bigg Boss, the superstar was asked about films he regretted doing. After jokingly mentioning some older films, Sikandar was brought up. In a characteristic, humorous tone, the actor addressed the director’s accusation directly. It was stated by Khan that he was often late because his rib had been broken, a detail that was believed to have been overlooked by the director.

A Comparison with a Recent Flop

The key moment that was seized upon by the internet was Khan’s indirect comparison of Sikandar’s failure with Murugadoss’s subsequent directorial venture, Madharaasi. The superstar playfully quipped that the actor in the director’s later film was known to be punctual, arriving at 6 AM, yet that movie also was not considered a box office success.

Khan sarcastically suggested that Madharaasi was a blockbuster “even bigger” than Sikandar, implying the film was a bigger flop despite the actor’s punctuality. This pointed comparison was seen by many as a clear dismissal of the director’s attempt to place sole blame on the lead actor’s schedule.

Industry Dynamics and Fan Reaction

Khan’s witty response was viewed by his fans as an effective way of shutting down the long-standing controversy. Support for the actor has been shown online, with many users arguing that the failure of a film must be shared by the director and the script as well.

Furthermore, the actor pointed out that the project had originally been associated with both Murugadoss and producer Sajid Nadiadwala, but that both had distanced themselves from the project before its release. This, according to Khan’s implication, suggested that the blame for the film’s troubles should not be assigned to the actor alone. The viral clip has reignited a wider conversation within the industry about accountability for commercial failures.
