New Delhi, April 4, 2026 — Renowned Punjabi playback singer and actress Sunanda Sharma was left visibly shaken on Friday night when a security breach abruptly halted her live performance. The incident occurred during a high-octane concert at RKGIT College in Ghaziabad, forcing the artist to walk off stage mid-performance.
The event, which was part of a local cultural fest, drew thousands of enthusiastic fans eager to see the “Jaani Tera Naa” hitmaker. According to eyewitnesses, the atmosphere was electric until a young man bypassed security cordons and lunged onto the stage while Sharma was in the middle of a song.
The intruder reportedly attempted to approach the singer directly, eventually falling at her feet. Caught off guard by the sudden intrusion, Sunanda Sharma was seen screaming in distress before immediately rushing off stage. The performance was halted as security personnel and local police moved in to detain the individual.
The sudden end to the show left the audience in a state of confusion and disappointment. While some fans expressed frustration over the concert being cut short, the majority took to social media to support Sharma, citing the need for better security protocols for female artists.
“It was a terrifying moment for everyone. One second she was performing, and the next, there was total chaos on stage,” said an attendee. “Security should have been much tighter given the crowd size.”
The individual who breached the stage is believed to be a student at the college. He was taken into custody by Ghaziabad police for questioning regarding his motives.
This incident follows a string of similar disruptions involving Sunanda Sharma. Just weeks ago, during a performance in Ranchi, Jharkhand, the singer had to pause her set to reprimand an audience member for making inappropriate gestures. While she managed to finish that show, the Ghaziabad incident proved too distressing, leading to the total cancellation of the remaining set.
The trend of “fan-artist” physical encounters at live events has sparked a heated debate within the industry. Promoters are now facing increased pressure to implement “zero-tolerance” zones and enhanced physical barriers to protect performers from such volatile interactions.
Sunanda Sharma is one of the leading figures in the contemporary Punjabi music scene. Known for her powerful vocals and vibrant stage presence, she has successfully transitioned into acting with roles in films like Sajjan Singh Rangroot.
As of Saturday morning, neither Sunanda Sharma nor her management team has released an official statement regarding the Ghaziabad security breach. It remains unclear if the singer will reschedule the performance or if legal action will be pursued against the organisers for the security lapse.
