New Delhi, November 10,2025: Tamil actor Abhinay, best known for his impactful debut in the 2002 coming-of-age film Thulluvadho Ilamai, passed away on Monday, November 10, at the age of 44, following a long and difficult battle with liver disease. The news has sent a wave of sorrow through the Tamil and Malayalam film industries, where the actor had made a notable contribution over the years.

A Career Marked by a Promising Debut

Abhinay (also known as Abhinay Kinger) began his career on a high note with Thulluvadho Ilamai (2002), a film directed by Kasthuri Raja. This movie was significant as it also marked the feature film debut of South superstar Dhanush. Abhinay’s portrayal of Vishnu, one of the central group of friends, was well-received and established him as a promising young talent in Kollywood.

Following his debut, Abhinay took on lead roles in films like Jjunction (2002), Singara Chennai (2004), and Pon Megalai (2005). He also ventured into Malayalam cinema, starring in Kai Ethum Doorath (2002), the debut film of actor Fahadh Faasil. As his career progressed, he transitioned into memorable supporting roles in projects such as Solla Solla Inikkum (2009) and Palaivana Solai (2009).

Beyond acting, Abhinay was a successful voice actor. He notably lent his voice to actor Vidyut Jammwal for the character in the Thalapathy Vijay-starrer blockbusters Thuppakki (2012) and Anjaan (2014), showcasing his versatility in the industry.

A Public Struggle for Survival

In recent years, the actor’s life took a tragic turn as his health deteriorated due to severe liver-related complications, including advanced liver cirrhosis. Abhinay’s struggle became public after he made a heartfelt video appeal for financial assistance to cover his mounting medical expenses. In the emotional video, he shared the grim prognosis from his doctors, revealing he may only have had a short time left to live.

The difficult circumstances of his final years, compounded by the passing of his mother, veteran Malayalam actress T.P. Radhamani, in 2019, deeply moved the film fraternity. In a touching display of solidarity, several colleagues came forward to offer support. His debut co-star, Dhanush, reportedly contributed a sum of ₹5 lakh towards his treatment, while comedian KPY Bala also provided financial aid and helped raise awareness about his plight.

Last Rites and Legacy

Abhinay passed away at his residence in Chennai. Due to the absence of immediate family members to oversee the final rites, the South Indian Artistes’ Association (Nadigar Sangam) has reportedly been requested to step in and manage the funeral arrangements.

Abhinay’s death at a young age is a poignant loss, closing the chapter on a career that started with great promise. He will be remembered by audiences for his sensitive performances and his earnest contributions to regional cinema across different languages and roles.
