In the last few years, the United Arab Emirates has become one of the fastest-growing business countries in the world. The business access has attracted many companies there. Now this country is going to give its citizenship to foreign nationals as well. 

The special thing is that people taking UAE citizenship can also retain their old citizenship. The United Arab Emirates announced on Saturday that it would grant its citizenship to professional foreign nationals. The UAE has taken this step to revive its economy amid the covid-19 epidemic.

‘His Family Will Also Get Citizenship’

The ruler of Dubai, the PM, and the Vice President of the country, Sheikh Mohammed bin Al Maktoum, announced that artists, doctors, writers, engineers, and scientists, as well as their families, can apply for citizenship.

He said that even after becoming a UAE citizen, they can retain their old citizenship. However, it has not been clear yet whether foreign citizens holding UAE citizenship will also be given the same rights as the original citizens of the country.

Let us tell you that UAE is a group of 7 different Emiratis, of which Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi are prominent.  Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain are the other Emirates.  According to 2013 data, the total population of the UAE was 92 lakh, of which 14 lakh were citizens of the country and the rest were 78 lakh migrants.

The largest number of expatriates in the United Arab Emirates are Indian citizens, who constitute 28 percent of its total population. This is followed by the number of Pakistani citizens who constitute about 12 percent of the total population of the UAE. In terms of percentage, the UAE is home to the largest number of migrants in the world.
