January 21, 2026 – With just 48 hours to go before the release of the year’s most anticipated war epic, Border 2, lead actor Varun Dhawan has broken his silence on the relentless online trolling he has faced. During a high-octane promotional event in Mumbai on Wednesday, Dhawan delivered a blunt and confident message to his critics: “Friday ko pata chalega” (The result will be known this Friday).

Silence Over Social Media Noise

Since the release of the emotional track Ghar Kab Aaoge and the film’s first trailer, Dhawan has been at the center of a social media storm. Trolls have targeted everything from his facial expressions to his suitability for a gritty war drama, with many memes questioning if he can match the legendary intensity of the 1997 original.

Addressing the media at the ‘Braves of the Soil’ tribute event, Varun appeared unfazed.

“I believe you should shut out the noise and let your work do the talking. All these things keep happening, and they don’t really matter. I don’t work for that. What I work for will be known on Friday,” he stated.

Validation from the Frontline

While the “keyboard warriors” have been busy, Varun has found support from an unlikely and powerful source: the family of the hero he portrays. In Border 2, Varun plays the role of Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya, a Param Vir Chakra recipient.

At the event, Colonel Sushil Kumar Dahiya, the son of the late Major, joined Varun on stage and showered him with praise. “The way he has portrayed my father on the silver screen is mind-blowing,” the Colonel remarked, effectively silencing many who doubted the actor’s dedication to the role.

Box Office Momentum: Numbers Don’t Lie

Despite the online chatter, the “ground reality” tells a different story. Advance bookings for Border 2 have already crossed the ₹6.5 crore mark (including block seats) for Day 1.

  • Tickets Sold: Over 1,00,000 across India.
  • Primary Markets: Delhi-NCR and Mumbai are leading the charts, with strong demand in mass circuits.
  • Target: Trade analysts expect the film to challenge the opening records of Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2.

Supporting Cast & Legacy

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 sees Sunny Deol returning as the formidable soul of the franchise. Joining the ranks are Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, creating a multi-generational ensemble. Veteran actor Suniel Shetty, who starred in the original film, also came out in support of Varun, urging audiences to “see the film first” before passing judgment on a performance that honors a national hero.

As India prepares for the Republic Day weekend, all eyes are now on January 23. For Varun Dhawan, the mission is clear: prove the skeptics wrong in the only place that matters—the cinema halls.
