New Delhi, November 25, 2025: The creator behind the viral ‘Bandana Girl’ video, identified as Priyanga, has been forced to take drastic measures to protect her privacy after her sudden internet fame was leveraged by malicious users to obtain and circulate her personal details. The unexpected consequence of her viral success has culminated in the locking of her X (formerly Twitter) account, signaling a retreat from the public eye.
The process of ‘doxxing’—the publication of private identifying information—was reportedly facilitated by a mistake made by Priyanga herself. Her bachelor’s degree certificate was shared on her X account, and although some sections were blurred, sufficient personal information was believed to have been visible. This small amount of data was allegedly used by persistent online users to piece together her full identity and educational background, which was then followed by the exposure of private details and additional personal photos.

The exposure of her personal details was quickly followed by a far more damaging wave of harassment. Numerous non-consensual images and videos of Priyanga were created and were circulated using advanced AI-generation and deepfake tools. These manipulated images, which were explicitly condemned by the creator, often depicted scenarios she had not consented to or recorded. The content was described as having severe real-life consequences, as the AI-morphed photos were reached by and were shared among her relatives and acquaintances.
Disturbed by the personal intrusion and the circulation of the fake media, Priyanga issued a final public statement on her X account before locking it. The post was used to plead with the public to stop feeding real people’s media into AI applications without consent. The entire ordeal was stated to have affected her “heavily” and was cited as the reason for her temporary withdrawal from the public platform. Her X profile has now been made private, meaning that her posts can only be viewed by confirmed followers.
The unfortunate incident has reignited a crucial public debate regarding the dangers of virality and the lack of safety for women on social media platforms. The ease with which personal information can be exploited and digital manipulation tools can be misused for harassment has been underscored by the ‘Bandana Girl’ case. The episode is being viewed as a powerful illustration of the urgent need for better legal and platform-level protections against doxxing and the non-consensual creation of AI-generated content.
