December 17th, 2024 – The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has announced a peaceful protest march to Raj Bhawan on December 18th. This move comes in response to the ongoing political situation in the region, particularly the delay in restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
JKPCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra stated that the march aims to draw attention to the pressing issue of statehood restoration and other concerns facing the region. He emphasized the importance of restoring statehood as a fundamental right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The march, scheduled to commence at 11 AM from the party headquarters at Shaheedi Chowk, will see the participation of senior Congress leaders, party functionaries, and various frontal organizations. The protesters will march towards Raj Bhawan to convey their demands to the Lieutenant Governor’s administration.
The Congress party’s decision to hold the march comes amidst growing discontent among the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the delay in restoring statehood. The party hopes that the protest will put pressure on the central government to take swift action on this issue.
The JKPCC has appealed to all sections of society to participate in the march and support their demands. They have also assured that the protest will be peaceful and conducted within the framework of the law.
The upcoming march is expected to be a significant event in the ongoing political discourse in Jammu and Kashmir. It remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to the demands of the protesters and whether any concrete steps will be taken to address the concerns raised by the Congress party.
