New Delhi, December 17, 2025: A Delhi Traffic Police constable has been officially suspended after a viral video surfaced documenting a physical assault on a taxi driver in the busy Paharganj area. The footage, which captured a heated confrontation turning into an act of unprovoked aggression, led to immediate public condemnation and a rapid disciplinary response from the Delhi Police department.

The Altercation in Paharganj Is Documented

The incident, which was reportedly filmed by a passerby on a mobile device, took place amidst heavy traffic in the central Delhi neighborhood. In the widely circulated clip, the uniformed traffic constable was observed engaged in a verbal dispute with a taxi driver.

As the argument intensified, the constable was seen physically assaulting the driver, striking him multiple times in full view of the public and other motorists. Despite the presence of several bystanders, the aggression continued until others intervened to de-escalate the situation. The video was immediately uploaded to various social media platforms, where it was tagged with accounts belonging to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and the Delhi Police Commissioner, accompanied by demands for strict accountability.

Official Suspension and Inquiry Are Initiated

Following the massive traction gained by the video, the Delhi Police issued an official statement confirming that the officer’s conduct was “unacceptable and unprofessional.” It was announced that the constable has been placed under suspension with immediate effect.

The swift suspension was welcomed by the public and taxi unions, who have frequently raised concerns regarding the treatment of commercial vehicle drivers by traffic personnel.
