New Delhi, September 19, 2025: e-KYC a government resolution (GR) was issued by the Maharashtra government on Thursday. Mandatory requirement for all beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme. A two-month deadline has been set for the completion of this process.

The move has been prompted by the recent discovery that a significant number of ineligible individuals, including a large number of men, had been enrolled in the scheme. An official stated that nearly 26.34 lakh such beneficiaries were found to have been receiving the monthly allowance. The e-KYC mandate is being implemented to ensure that the benefits are received only by eligible women and to maintain transparency in the scheme’s implementation.

Under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500 is provided to women in the age group of 21 to 65 years from families with an annual income not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh. The government has assured that the e-KYC process is simple and convenient. A facility for completing the e-KYC has been made available on the scheme’s official web portal, ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare announced on Thursday that beneficiaries are requested to complete the process within the stipulated two-month period.

The GR also specifies that if the Aadhaar authentication is not completed, the financial benefits will be withheld. Furthermore, beneficiaries will be required to carry out the e-KYC process every year to ensure their continued eligibility. This measure is intended to verify the identity of beneficiaries and prevent fraudulent claims.

The e-KYC process is a secure and paperless method of verification that uses Aadhaar-based authentication. This initiative is expected to streamline the delivery of benefits and strengthen the integrity of the scheme. The government’s action comes in the wake of public scrutiny and allegations of large-scale irregularities in the scheme’s implementation.
