In a compelling narrative that underscores the growing trend of high-calibre Indian talent returning home, a Bengaluru native and former product manager at tech giants Netflix and Meta has traded in his lucrative Silicon Valley career to launch a deeply personal and mission-driven venture in India. Navneeth Ramprasad, whose career spanned leading roles in major global corporations, announced his return and the founding of a healthcare platform focused on the needs of India’s ageing population, driven by a desire to “build something that didn’t exist” but was desperately needed.

Ramprasad’s decision was significantly influenced by the health challenges faced by his own parents, who struggled with chronic conditions like diabetes and joint pain. He realized that even with financial resources, the structured, holistic, and continuous care system needed to truly help them get better was largely absent in India’s fragmented healthcare landscape. In a candid social media post, Ramprasad reflected on his time in Big Tech, stating that while the roles offered “Great teams. Great comp. Great resume,” none of that could solve his family’s struggles.

His new venture, Praan Health, is described as a family-led healthcare platform specifically designed to support the chronic health management of seniors in India. The company focuses on a holistic, outcome-oriented approach, moving beyond simple episodic hospital visits to provide ongoing care. The market he is addressing is significant, with India having approximately 150 million people over the age of 60, many of whom are grappling with chronic health issues.

The story has quickly garnered attention, championed by prominent investors who see it as a model for the kind of “real problem-solving” entrepreneurship needed in India. Zerodha-backed investor Dilip Kumar highlighted the founder’s choice to solve for “our parents” while “everyone is chasing Millennials and Gen Z.” Kumar also noted that the company is already profitable and growing rapidly without extensive marketing, illustrating the immense, often overlooked opportunity in this segment.

Ramprasad’s journey serves as a powerful testament to purpose over paycheque. Having worked 18-hour days, he describes his work not as a job but as his “fuel,” driven by the direct impact he is making. For aspiring Indian professionals, his message is one of profound encouragement: “Don’t worry about visas or AI taking your job. Solve real problems, the opportunities in India are far bigger than you’d imagined.” His commitment to transforming elder care in India represents more than just a successful career pivot; it’s a movement towards building essential, empathy-driven infrastructure for a rapidly aging nation.
