The state of Haryana is set to commemorate its Foundation Day with an extensive three-day state-level celebration, commencing on November 1st, at the Yavanika Ground in Sector 5, Panchkula. The event is a grand showcase of the state’s rich culture, heritage, and progress, with the presence of top dignitaries underscoring its significance.

Dignitaries Lead the Festivities

The main celebrations are slated to begin with the inauguration by Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, who will set the celebratory tone for the festival. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will also be a prominent figure at the inaugural event, later returning on November 3rd to confer awards upon the competition winners. Their joint presence highlights the political leadership’s commitment to honoring the state’s formation and its journey of development since November 1, 1966.

The event, which has extended invitations to leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties, aims to be a non-partisan celebration, reflecting the unity and collective spirit of all Haryanvis.

A Tapestry of Culture and Tradition

The three-day festival is designed to be a vibrant confluence of arts, culture, and heritage. A key attraction is the Heritage Exhibition organized at the venue, which will proudly display Haryana’s traditional attire, folk art, agricultural tools, and handicraft items. This exhibition seeks to forge a connection between the younger generation and the state’s centuries-old cultural roots, offering a tangible glimpse into its glorious traditions.

  • Cultural Competitions: College students from across the state will participate in dynamic Group Dance and Ragini (a popular form of folk music) competitions, showcasing local talent.
  • Culinary Delights: Visitors will have the opportunity to savor the authentic flavors of Haryanvi cuisine at various food stalls. Traditional delicacies such as bajra roti, sarson ka saag, desi ghee boora, and different chutneys will be available.
  • Folk Ambiance: The entire venue will be imbued with the vibrant essence of Haryanvi folk culture, complete with welcoming guests to the melodious sounds of traditional folk instruments like been, nagada, and dhol. A special stall for the traditional Haryanvi turban, the khandwa, will also be set up.

A Reflection on Statehood and Progress

While the celebrations are filled with cultural fervor, they also serve as a moment for the state’s leadership to reflect on the journey of Haryana. The Governor and the Chief Minister are expected to address the populace, acknowledging the hard work and resilience of the state’s residents—often referred to as the land of brave soldiers (jawan), hardworking farmers (kisan), and energetic athletes (pehalwan). Their speeches are anticipated to reiterate the government’s resolve to continue the non-stop advancement of the state across all sectors, positioning Haryana as a key contributor to the nation’s progress and the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat-2047.’

The Governor, Ashim Kumar Ghosh, who recently took his oath, along with CM Nayab Singh Saini, will ensure the Foundation Day is celebrated with the enthusiasm and dignity befitting the state’s 59th milestone
