New Delhi, November 27, 2025: The 2018 release of the controversial memoir by British-Pakistani journalist Reham Khan, the ex-wife of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, sent shockwaves through the country’s political and social landscape. Titled Reham Khan, the book provided an insider’s view of her brief, 10-month marriage to the cricket legend turned politician in 2015, focusing heavily on his personal life and the inner workings of his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The memoir was released just ahead of the 2018 Pakistani general elections, leading to immediate speculation and accusations from Imran Khan’s supporters that the timing was a deliberate effort to damage his electoral prospects. Reham Khan, however, insisted the book was a tell-all about her own life, with the portion on Imran Khan serving as an explanation for her mistakes and an exposé of the political system.

Contentions on Personal Conduct

Among the most sensational claims in the book were those relating to Imran Khan’s alleged lifestyle. Reham Khan wrote that he had confessed to having several illegitimate children with women from across the world, including a few in India, beyond his publicly known daughter, Tyrian Jade White, whose paternity a California court ruled in his favour despite his denial.

The book also leveled serious allegations concerning drug use, suggesting that the cricketer-turned-politician had a significant drug habit. Reham Khan recounted confronting him about it during their marriage, to which he allegedly responded that it was not serious. Furthermore, the memoir delved into other aspects of his private conduct, alleging that he was a believer in black magic and would carry out “strange” practices at the behest of spiritual guides, or pirs.

Allegations of Party Misconduct

Beyond his personal habits, the memoir presented a highly critical view of the environment within the PTI party. Reham Khan suggested there was a rampant issue of sexual harassment and coercion, claiming that sexual favors were often used to secure positions within the party and the media. While she did not explicitly name Imran Khan as directly involved in these specific coercive acts, she maintained that the party leader must be held responsible for what happens within his political household. She also described Imran Khan’s political stance as one of shifting loyalties, suggesting he adopted an “Islamist agenda” purely to secure votes.

Reaction and Aftermath

The book immediately became a flashpoint for intense public and legal debate. Imran Khan later referred to his marriage to Reham Khan as the biggest mistake of my life” and, years later, alleged that the “Sharif family” had paid a woman to write a book against him. Reham Khan, in turn, denied the book was an act of personal vengeance, stating that her motivation was to raise awareness ahead of the elections. She faced legal challenges from several individuals she had named, including her first husband and several political figures.

Despite the controversy, the book and its revelations, which painted a picture of a “self-absorbed man” and detailed a tumultuous marriage, continue to be cited as a notable, albeit contentious, account of Imran Khan’s life before he ascended to the office of Prime Minister.
