Kerala is bracing for severe storms and has issued red alerts in five northern zone due to Cyclone Tauktae

News Desk | New Delhi: The terrible depression over the Arabian Sea has strengthened into cyclonic storm Tauktae, which is expected to strike the Gujarat shoreline between Porbandar and Naliya on May 18, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Tauktae would be a very tropical cyclones storms from May 16-18, the IMD stated in a report posted at 1.45 p.m.

Both central and the states have indeed been preparing for days to cope with both the cyclone that is forming over the Arabian Sea. According to government sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would conduct a critical meeting later today to discuss preparations for the impending storm Tauktae.

A lot of athletes assigned to rescue and recovery efforts in the devastation of the cyclone has climbed from 53 to 100. The Centre care process has however declared a medium to elevated notice for wetlands in central and northern Kerala, as well as the neighboring southwest coastline and southwest inland Karnataka.

Just like Cyclone Tauktae approaches the Indian West Coast, the Central Water Commission (CWC) announced an orange alert for Kerala and Tamil Nadu on Saturday, anticipating devastating floods throughout the two states. Sea levels are expected to hit dangerous and maximum flood flows, according to the CWC.

Cyclone Tauktae has prompted urgent alarm in five coastal states: Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, and Lakshadweep. Although the cyclone is anticipated to strengthen over the next 12 hours, 24 NDRF teams were dispatched.

As storm Tauktae develops, Kerala continues to receive severe rain. Given the low depression that developed above Lakshadweep in the Arabian Sea, the IMD issued a warning of torrential rainfall earlier in the day. Regulators have issued distress calls in a number of areas, along with the capital. On the 14th of May, at Thiruvananthapuram, Cm Pinarayi Vijayan advised fishermen not to go out into the sea.
