Popular Malayalam actress Anna Rajan, widely recognized by her on-screen name Lichy, has strongly spoken out against the circulation of a deeply altered and fake video on social media platforms. The actress, known for her roles in films like Angamaly Diaries, took to her Instagram stories to address the disturbing trend of morphed content, specifically targeting a video that severely distorted her body image.

The controversy centers on a video snippet from a recent public appearance where Anna Rajan attended an inauguration event dressed in a white saree and blouse. While the original footage was already circulating, the actress highlighted a heavily edited and objectifying version that had unfortunately gained significant traction online.

In a poignant and direct message, Anna Rajan questioned the motives behind such malicious editing. “You shouldn’t have gone this far,” she wrote, expressing her shock at the extent of the distortion. She also pointed out the sad reality that the manipulated video was garnering more views than the authentic one. “Even the original video doesn’t have this many views. But why would someone do this?” she lamented in her post.

To clearly illustrate the falsehood, the actress shared a screenshot of the doctored video alongside an original clip of herself from the event. Captioning the latter with the unequivocal statement, “— this is the real me,” she aimed to set the record straight and appeal to her followers’ sense of responsibility.

The incident underscores the persistent struggle celebrities, particularly women, face with body shaming and online harassment. Anna Rajan has frequently been the subject of vitriolic comments regarding her choice of attire and physique whenever her pictures or videos from public engagements surface online. The comment sections are often flooded with remarks that critics deem deeply sexist and disrespectful.

The actress implored the public to cease the circulation of such harmful and fake content. “I appeal to everyone not to spread such fake videos,” she stated, urging for a more responsible and respectful social media environment.

Anna Rajan, who was a nurse before making a successful transition to acting with the 2017 superhit Angamaly Diaries, continues to be a prominent figure in the industry, with her upcoming projects including the Rajinikanth starrer Jailer 2. Her swift and decisive response serves as an important call-to-action against cyberbullying and the unethical use of digital tools to create and propagate fake media.
