New Delhi, December 09, 2025: The disappearance of a 32-year-old woman in Gurugram, which began as a puzzling missing person case, has tragically concluded with the recovery of her body and the swift arrest of her alleged murderer, who was identified as a friend.
The victim, identified as Zaida alias Jabeda Khatun, originally from Darang in Assam, was reported missing after she told a friend on November 27 that she was meeting another friend and would return within two hours. When her phone went unreachable shortly after, her friend filed a complaint.
Days later, on a Sunday afternoon, locals passing near the Iffco Chowk Metro Station in Sector 29 spotted something disturbing in a vacant plot of land behind a liquor shop. A partially buried body was visible in the shallow grave. Police, forensic teams, and fingerprint experts were immediately dispatched to the scene. Investigators quickly suspected foul play, believing the woman had been strangled and hastily buried to hide the crime. This suspicion was later confirmed by post-mortem examinations.
The location of the body, just about 100 meters from the Sector 29 Police Station, highlights the brazen nature of the crime.
The initial case was considered “blind” due to the lack of immediate witnesses or clear evidence at the burial site. However, Gurugram Police leveraged technical investigation and information gathered from the friend who filed the missing person complaint to quickly zero in on a suspect.
During questioning, the accused, Sanjay, confessed to the murder. He admitted that Zaida was his female friend. The sequence of events, according to the police spokesperson, was as follows:
Sanjay is currently in police custody, and an FIR has been registered. The swift investigation transformed a difficult, unidentified case into a solved one, underscoring the vital role of digital evidence and thorough questioning in modern crime-solving.
