New Delhi, December 12, 2025: A highly alarming video clip documenting the sighting of three leopards—reportedly one adult and two cubs—moving together on the busy Doithan–Ashti Road in the Beed district of Maharashtra has achieved massive viral circulation. The footage, captured late on a Tuesday night near Kinhi village, instantly escalated fear among local residents and commuters in an area that was already grappling with the memory of a fatal leopard attack just two months prior.

The Nocturnal Sighting Is Confirmed

The widely circulated video was filmed by a traveler who unexpectedly encountered the three big cats near a bridge on the main road. The animals were observed confidently moving on the road for several moments before they retreated into the nearby fields. The casual, unhurried presence of not one, but three, leopards—suggesting a mother and her cubs—was the primary factor that intensified the public’s anxiety.

Forest officials, including Range Forest Officer Amol Munde, swiftly confirmed the sighting and the presence of the leopard and its two cubs near Kinhi village. The incident served as stark confirmation that the leopards’ movement has extended beyond forested areas and into human-dominated transit routes.

Public Safety Alert Is Issued

The emergence of the viral video prompted an immediate response from local authorities. Forest officials were observed urging the public to maintain extreme caution and vigilance. Residents of surrounding villages, including Beedsangavi, Kohini, Bavi, and Darewadi, were specifically appealed to refrain from venturing out late at night or during the early morning hours to prevent any potential confrontations with the wild animals.

The renewed panic was directly linked to a tragic incident that had occurred in the area on October 13, when a 36-year-old farmer from Bavi village was killed in a leopard attack while tending to his livestock. The latest sighting of multiple big cats has fueled demands for immediate intervention from the Forest Department, including increased patrolling and the implementation of concrete precautionary steps to safeguard the community.

Measures for Coexistence Are Demanded

The incident has highlighted the growing challenge of human-leopard conflict in the Beed district, particularly in the Ashti taluka, where leopards are known to be moving from hilly and forested areas onto highways. The public outcry affirmed the necessity for the Forest Department to take proactive measures beyond merely offering compensation for livestock kills.

The need for a long-term strategy that focuses on community awareness and deterrent measures was emphasized, including the implementation of effective waste disposal (as poorly managed garbage attracts smaller prey, which in turn attracts leopards). The swift sharing of information regarding the leopards’ movement was noted as a vital first step in preventing conflict, although the eventual resolution remains dependent on consistent, high-level monitoring by wildlife authorities.
