New Delhi, December 24, 2025: A significant legal intervention has been initiated by the Ghaziabad Police following the circulation of a controversial viral video from the Namo Bharat (RRTS) train. In the footage, which was reportedly captured on November 24, 2024, but gained massive traction in December 2025, a couple was observed engaging in an intimate act inside a premium coach. The incident has led to the registration of a formal First Information Report (FIR) at the Muradnagar Police Station, targeting both the unidentified couple and the train operator responsible for the leak.

Security Breach and Dismissal of Staff

The train operator, identified as Rishabh, has been terminated from his services by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). It was discovered during an internal investigation that the operator had used his personal mobile phone to record the live CCTV feed from the cabin while on duty. This unauthorized recording was subsequently leaked online, leading to charges of voyeurism and a major breach of passenger privacy protocols.

Legal Charges and Ongoing Investigation

The FIR has been lodged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act. The couple is being booked under Section 296 for committing obscene acts in a public place, while the operator faces charges under Section 77 (voyeurism) and Section 67 of the IT Act for transmitting obscene material. Police officials have confirmed that efforts are currently underway to identify and trace the young man and woman involved in the video.

Public Outrage and Privacy Concerns

The “Namo Bharat obscenity case” has triggered a dual-layered debate on social media. While a section of the public has expressed ire over the couple’s “lack of public decorum,” civil rights advocates have raised serious concerns regarding the misuse of surveillance systems. The leak of internal CCTV footage is being viewed as a security failure, prompting calls for stricter access controls to safeguard the dignity and privacy of all commuters on India’s first regional rapid transit system.
