New Delhi, December 2, 2025: A video featuring an American travel vlogger, Conner McBee (known online as “Small Brained American”), making highly derogatory comments about India has achieved viral notoriety, sparking widespread condemnation and outrage across the country. The footage, in which the vlogger claimed India was “dirty, dishonest, and noisy,” primarily drew severe backlash for the perceived inhumane treatment of auto-rickshaw drivers and the alleged fabrication of his travel narrative.
The contentious footage, which was originally uploaded to YouTube but resurfaced recently, captured the vlogger’s journey from an airport to his hotel. During the trip, McBee was seen engaging in severe bargaining with several financially struggling auto-rickshaw drivers. One driver’s quote of ₹300 for the fare was met with the vlogger’s repeated attempts to slash the price down to as low as ₹20, an act he described as “fun.”
This exploitative bargaining was strongly criticized by fellow American traveler Stephen Hauser in a series of reaction videos, where McBee was accused of treating the drivers “inhumanely.” Hauser asserted that the vlogger could not fathom paying the workers what they asked because he did not believe they were “actual humans trying to make a living.”

Throughout the longer video, India was continuously mocked. The vlogger complained about the difficulty of finding “honest people” and was seen walking carefully to avoid stepping on what he referred to as “human feces.” A core part of the controversy centered on McBee’s claim that he was “forced” to visit India due to a layover, a claim Hauser directly refuted.
It was argued that the vlogger was being fundamentally dishonest and was deliberately insulting India purely to generate high engagement and earn money—a tactic often referred to as “rage bait.” The entire narrative was framed around negative stereotypes and low-balling the working-class people of the country for content.
The public outrage was not limited to Indian viewers. Following Hauser’s videos calling out the “Small Brained American,” many Indians and foreigners joined the chorus of condemnation. The bargaining attempt to reduce a ₹300 fare to ₹20 was described as “diabolical,” with many commenters stating that even local Indians would not attempt such an extreme low-ball.
The incident has highlighted a growing frustration toward certain foreign content creators who are perceived to be defaming India for personal gain. The viral success of the clip, though steeped in negativity, has amplified the calls for tourists and content creators to show more respect and empathy towards the local populace and economy.
