Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, ensure you meet the following requirements:

  1. Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university. Candidates in their final year/semester are generally not eligible unless they possess the degree by the application deadline.
  2. Age Limit (as of August 1, 2026):
    • Minimum Age: 21 years
    • Maximum Age: 35 years (for Unreserved/EWS)
    • Relaxations: BC-I/BC-II (37 years), Female (UR/BC) (38 years), and SC/ST (40 years).
  3. Physical Standards: For police and prison services, specific height and chest measurements apply as per state rules.

Examination Pattern

The JPSC selection process remains a rigorous three-stage journey:

  • Preliminary Exam: Two objective papers (General Studies I & II). This stage is qualifying in nature to shortlist candidates for the Mains.
  • Main Exam: Six descriptive papers covering languages, literature, and social sciences. Total marks: 950.
  • Interview: A personality test worth 100 marks. The final merit list is prepared based on the combined score of the Mains and the Interview.

  3. Complete the One Time Registration (OTR).
  4. Fill in the application form and upload the required documents (Photo & Signature).
  5. Pay the application fee (₹100 for UR/OBC/EWS; ₹50 for SC/ST of Jharkhand).
  6. Submit and print the confirmation page.
