AI Creativity Expanded: Sora Video App Arrives on Android

New Delhi, November 06, 2025: A major expansion of access to cutting-edge generative technology has been announced by OpenAI, the creator of the viral AI video app, Sora. Following its successful debut on the iOS platform, the app has now been released for Android devices, dramatically broadening the reach of its text-to-video generation capabilities. This move is expected to rapidly accelerate the adoption of high-quality AI video tools globally.

Android Rollout and Access Details Confirmed

The Sora app is currently available for download on the Google Play Store for users in select regions, including the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The rollout for this platform was confirmed by Bill Peebles, the head of Sora at OpenAI.

Significantly, the previous barrier of an invite code or waitlist has been removed for users in these initial launch regions, allowing them to begin creating videos immediately. While the app is yet to be launched in other major markets, such as Europe and India, the company has hinted that further expansion is being actively worked on.

The Android version of Sora has been confirmed to retain all the popular features that were introduced on its iOS counterpart. The app is powered by the Sora 2 AI model, which is known for its ability to generate realistic, high-fidelity video clips up to 60 seconds long from simple text prompts

Usage Limits and Monetization Introduced

To manage the immense computing power required, limits have been placed on the number of videos that can be generated daily. For free users and those on the ChatGPT Plus plan, the limit is set at 30 videos per day, while ChatGPT Pro subscribers are allowed up to 100 generations. Furthermore, a new monetization option has been introduced, where additional video tokens can be purchased after the daily cap is reached. The widespread availability of the app is expected to solidify OpenAI’s position as a leading contender in the rapidly evolving generative AI video space.
