Global audio specialist Sennheiser has announced the launch of its new premium wireless headphones, the Sennheiser HDB 630. Positioned as the brand’s first dedicated high-resolution audiophile wireless product, the HDB 630 aims to bring uncompromised, reference-quality sound to listeners everywhere, blending the acoustic precision of their celebrated HD series with the convenience of their popular Momentum wireless range.
Available for pre-order immediately and set for global shipping on October 21, 2025, the new over-ear, closed-back headphones are priced at $499.95 / £399.90 / €499.90. This premium pricing places them in direct competition with top-tier wireless headphones from brands like Sony and Bowers & Wilkins, but Sennheiser is banking on its unique focus on high-fidelity audio to win over discerning listeners.
The core feature of the HDB 630 is its revolutionary approach to delivering high-resolution audio over a wireless connection. While the headphones support standard Bluetooth codecs, the main innovation lies in the inclusion of the BTD 700 USB-C Bluetooth transmitter dongle right in the box.
This compact dongle instantly upgrades the wireless streaming capability of almost any device, including smartphones and tablets (even those that don’t natively support high-res Bluetooth codecs like iPhones), to the aptX Adaptive codec. This technology allows for streaming music at up to 24-bit/96kHz quality, providing a significantly more detailed and higher-resolution wireless experience than standard Bluetooth. Sennheiser claims that this included transmitter brings high-res wireless capability to an estimated 80% of smartphone models instantly, by simply utilizing the USB-C port.
For true lossless audio playback, the HDB 630 also supports a wired connection via either a USB-C port or a 3.5mm analog cable (both included). When connected this way, the headphones can handle full 24-bit/96kHz resolution from compatible sources.
Inheriting the acclaimed ergonomic chassis design of the best-selling Momentum 4 Wireless, the HDB 630 features an entirely new, customized acoustic system. At the heart of this system are new 42mm dynamic drivers, which are manufactured at Sennheiser’s high-tech production facility in Tullamore, Ireland. The acoustic treatments are specifically engineered for “purity, not hype,” promising smooth mids, intimate vocals, and fast, accurate dynamics that stay true to the original studio master. The claimed frequency response is an expansive 6 Hz to 40 kHz when used with a wired USB-C connection.
Beyond the hardware, the HDB 630 is packed with features designed to appeal to the dedicated audio enthusiast:
With the HDB 630, Sennheiser is making a clear statement: audiophile-grade sound quality is no longer tethered to a desktop setup. By bundling the necessary wireless transmitter and integrating professional-grade tuning tools, the new headphones are set to redefine the expectations for high-end wireless audio on the go.
