Vivo and its sub-brand iQOO have officially opened registrations for the OriginOS 6 Preview Program in India, offering select users a chance to experience the next-generation operating system ahead of its official release. This move marks a significant shift for the brands in the Indian market, as OriginOS, previously exclusive to China, is set to replace the familiar Funtouch OS. The initial rollout for the preview program targets the premium segment, specifically the Vivo X200 Pro and the iQOO 13 flagship smartphones.

A New Era for Vivo and iQOO Software in India

The decision to bring OriginOS 6 to India signifies a strategic push for unified global software branding and a refined user experience. Built upon the foundation of Android 16, OriginOS 6 is touted by the company to deliver the “smoothest Android experience” yet, focusing on a revamped user interface, deeper customization options, and enriched, artificial intelligence-driven features.

Users participating in the preview program can anticipate a refreshed visual design, which is expected to include smoother transitions, a new lock screen with expanded customization and dynamic lighting effects, and a more coherent color palette system that intelligently integrates UI elements with the device wallpaper. The update also promises enhanced AI capabilities, potentially including smarter assistants, improved productivity tools like context-aware suggestions, and advanced photo editing features such as AI Eraser upgrades. Performance is also a key area of focus, with reports suggesting optimizations to the Android core system for better compute performance, display rendering, and memory management.

Eligibility and Registration Details

The OriginOS 6 Preview Program for the Vivo X200 Pro and iQOO 13 commenced registration on September 29th. Interested owners of these two flagship devices in India can sign up through a straightforward process on their smartphones. However, it’s important to note that the registration slots are limited, suggesting a select group of users will be granted early access to the beta build.

To register for the preview program, users of the eligible devices are instructed to:

  1. Navigate to Settings on their device and select System Update.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu usually located in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Version Trial > Closed Beta Sign-Up > View Details.
  4. Complete and submit the required Registration Form.

Applicants are also advised to ensure their device is running a specific minimum system version (e.g., version 15.0.14.1 or above for the X200 Pro) before applying. Following registration, the company’s team will review applications and inform selected participants about the next steps for receiving the early OS build.

Beta Phase and Public Rollout

It is crucial for potential participants to remember that this is a preview or closed beta version of the OS, which means it is still under development and may contain bugs, abnormal power consumption, and other stability issues. The company has encouraged users to back up their data before installation and to provide valuable feedback to help refine the software before its official public debut.

While the OriginOS 6 Preview Program begins in late September, the global launch of the new operating system is officially scheduled for October 15th, following a China debut on October 10th. The Vivo X300 series and the iQOO 15, both expected to launch soon, are anticipated to be the first devices to ship with OriginOS 6 pre-installed, cementing the new software’s place in the brand’s premium lineup. This early preview for the Vivo X200 Pro and iQOO 13, however, provides a crucial test phase and signals Vivo’s commitment to delivering a modern, unified, and feature-rich software experience to its Indian user base.
