WhatsApp is rolling out a new “Advanced Chat Privacy” feature, designed to provide stronger protection for sensitive conversations in both individual and group chats. This feature builds upon WhatsApp’s existing end-to-end encryption, adding extra layers of privacy and control for users.
Once activated, the Advanced Chat Privacy feature implements several restrictions to enhance security. It prevents others from exporting chats, stops automatic media downloads, and restricts the use of messages in AI features. These measures are intended to provide users with greater confidence when discussing sensitive topics.
WhatsApp suggests that this new feature is particularly well-suited for sensitive discussions. Examples include sharing personal health challenges within a support group or organizing community matters where privacy is paramount.
The Advanced Chat Privacy feature is currently being rolled out to all users on the latest version of the WhatsApp application. Users are encouraged to update their app to take advantage of these enhanced privacy settings.
