New Delhi, December 08, 2025: The celebrated actress shared her candid thoughts in a video clip posted by her daughter, actress Tanishaa Mukerji, on social media on Sunday. Sitting in a car after watching the film, Tanuja was enthusiastic about her viewing experience.
In her short but sweet review, Tanuja gave high marks to the entire cast. “It was a good film. It was a very interesting film. Very well-made, very well-performed. All the performers were very good,” she remarked.
She singled out actor Akshaye Khanna for special praise, noting, “I am seeing Akshaye (Khanna) after a long time. He was amazing. Absolutely amazing.” Khanna plays the character of Rehman Baloch, a feared gangster known as ‘Dakait,’ whose performance has been a major talking point among critics, with many hailing it as one of his career-best.
Tanishaa Mukerji echoed her mother’s sentiments, adding that she “loved it,” finding the film “fab, very captivating, keeps you interested.” She was also thoroughly impressed with the technical aspects, stating, “The writing is great, the dialogue is great.” While the action-packed film has a significant runtime of over three and a half hours, Tanishaa felt the pacing was excellent, even disagreeing with her mother’s slight critique that the action sequences could have been edited down.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, known for the critically acclaimed ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike,’ ‘Dhurandhar’ is an ambitious spy thriller inspired by real-life incidents and geopolitical conflicts. The film is set against the backdrop of significant historical events, including the 1999 Kandahar hijacking and the 2001 Parliament attack.
Ranveer Singh, in a notably restrained and intense avatar as the Indian intelligence agent Hamza, anchors the sprawling narrative. The film, which also features an ensemble cast including R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal, follows Hamza’s deep infiltration into the Karachi underworld—specifically the Lyari district—to dismantle a powerful nexus of terrorists and organized crime.
The positive celebrity reviews, alongside generally favorable critical response, have translated into an impressive box office run for ‘Dhurandhar.’ The film has performed exceptionally well over its opening weekend, surpassing the ₹100 crore mark in its first three days, securing one of Ranveer Singh’s strongest opening weekends to date.
The overwhelming response has even led to viral fan theories connecting ‘Dhurandhar’ to Dhar’s previous film, ‘Uri,’ suggesting a possible shared cinematic universe—a hint further strengthened by the film’s ending, which leaves room for a potential Part 2.
The positive reception from veterans like Tanuja further solidifies ‘Dhurandhar’ as a major box office hit and a significant addition to the genre of high-octane, politically charged Indian thrillers.
