New Delhi, january 03, 2026: In a powerful display of patriotism and cinematic history, the cast and crew of the highly anticipated war epic Border 2 gathered at the historic Longewala-Tanot border in Jaisalmer on Friday, January 2, 2026. The event marked the grand launch of the film’s first song, “Ghar Kab Aaoge,” a reimagined version of the iconic 1997 track “Sandese Aate Hain.”

The launch was not just a promotional event but a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces, attended by hundreds of Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian Army personnel who stood alongside Bollywood stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty.

A Historic Backdrop for a Soulful Tribute

The choice of Longewala for the song launch was deeply symbolic. It was the site of the legendary 1971 Battle of Longewala, which served as the foundation for J.P. Dutta’s original Border. Under the vast desert sky near the Tanot Mata Temple, the atmosphere was thick with emotion as the haunting melody of “Ghar Kab Aaoge” echoed across the dunes.

Sunny Deol, reprising his legendary role as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, was visibly moved. Addressing the soldiers, he shared:

Cinema Meets Real-Life Valor

Varun Dhawan, who joins the franchise as a new lead, energized the crowd with a spirited speech and a “massy” dialogue from the upcoming sequel. To the cheers of the jawans, he exclaimed, “Iss baar hum border mein ghusenge nahi, hum border hi badal lenge!” (This time, we won’t just enter the border; we will change the border itself!).

Dhawan spoke about the influence of the original film on his childhood, noting that it was Border that instilled a sense of pride and a desire to play a soldier in the hearts of millions of Indians.

Key Highlights of the Event:

  • The Musical Ensemble: The new track features a powerhouse of vocals including Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Diljit Dosanjh, Vishal Mishra, and Roopkumar Rathod.
  • A Legacy Honored: Producer Nidhi Dutta (daughter of J.P. Dutta) described the song as a bridge between the 1997 classic and the modern era, aimed at telling new stories of soldiers’ longing for home.
  • Emotional Performance: Singer Sonu Nigam performed the track live, calling it an “emotional day” as he revisited a melody that defined his career nearly 30 years ago.
