Renault has officially pulled the covers off the new 2025 Kiger, a mid-cycle refresh for its popular sub-compact SUV. Launched in India at a competitive starting price of ₹6.29 lakh (ex-showroom), this facelifted model brings a host of cosmetic and feature upgrades aimed at keeping it fresh and relevant in the fiercely contested segment. While the core mechanicals remain unchanged, the Kiger’s refreshed design and enhanced features make a strong case for its renewed appeal.

Exterior Design: A Sharper, More Modern Stance

The most noticeable changes are on the exterior, where the 2025 Kiger sports a new, more assertive front fascia. The redesigned grille, now featuring a new 2D Renault logo, gives it a distinct visual identity. The headlamp design is also new, with a split setup that includes slim LED DRLs and new tri-projector LED headlamps. This combination, along with the repositioned fog lamps and a tweaked front bumper with satin chrome inserts, adds a layer of sophistication and modernity.

Moving to the side, the Kiger’s profile remains largely similar, but a new set of 16-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels injects a dose of style. The C-shaped LED taillamps have been retained but with revised lighting elements, and the rear bumper has also been subtly tweaked. The overall silhouette of the Kiger, with its functional roof rails and a muscular stance, continues to be a highlight, and these updates only serve to enhance its road presence.

Interior and Features: A Focus on Comfort and Technology

Step inside the 2025 Kiger, and you’ll be greeted by an updated cabin that focuses on improving comfort and connectivity. The interior now features a new white and black dual-tone theme and updated upholstery, which gives the cabin a more premium feel. While the overall dashboard layout is familiar, new trim inserts on the door pads and dashboard add to the refreshed ambience.

In terms of features, the updated Kiger packs a punch. It retains the 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, it now comes with a new multi-view camera system for enhanced visibility, along with a cooled glovebox, rear AC vents, and a wireless phone charger. Another notable addition is the introduction of ventilated front seats, a feature that is a boon in hot weather conditions and a significant value-add in this segment. The Kiger also offers a 7-inch full digital instrument cluster and a variety of functional features like cruise control, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.

Powertrain and Safety: Tried and Tested

Under the hood, the 2025 Kiger sticks with the same engine options that have proven their mettle. The powertrains include the familiar 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and the more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The naturally aspirated engine, which produces 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque, is offered with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The turbo-petrol engine, on the other hand, delivers a healthy 100 PS and 160 Nm (152 Nm with the CVT) and is available with a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic. Additionally, a factory-fitted CNG kit is also available for the naturally aspirated engine, offering a more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly option.

Safety has also received a significant boost. The new Kiger now comes with six airbags as standard, a major step up from the previous model’s four. This is in addition to a host of other safety features like Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Hill-Start Assist, reinforcing its commitment to occupant protection.

New Variant Nomenclature

In line with the new approach seen with the Triber, the Kiger facelift adopts a new variant nomenclature. It is now available in four trims: Authentic, Evolution, Techno, and Emotion, each offering a different set of features and specifications to cater to a wider range of customers.

The 2025 Renault Kiger is a well-rounded update that addresses key areas of design, features, and safety. By retaining its competitive pricing and trusted mechanicals while adding a modern touch and more features, Renault is well-positioned to strengthen the Kiger’s standing in the highly competitive sub-compact SUV market, where it rivals the likes of the Tata Punch and Nissan Magnite.
