New Delhi, November 24, 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to release the official notification for the next session of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). While conventionally referred to as the ‘December’ session, the examination is now officially scheduled for February 8, 2026. Aspiring teachers eagerly awaiting the chance to qualify for teaching positions in central government schools (like KVS, NVS) and other affiliated institutions should prepare for the imminent release of the application forms.

Key Dates and Notification Anticipation

Based on the official short notice already released by the CBSE, the CTET will be conducted on Sunday, February 8, 2026. This date adjustment means candidates have a slightly longer preparation window than a traditional December cycle.

The detailed Registration Notification and Information Bulletin are widely expected to be released anytime now, likely in late November or early December 2025. Candidates must keep a close watch on the official CTET website, ctet.nic.in, for the precise dates of the application window. Once released, the notification will contain all the crucial information regarding the application process, syllabus, eligibility criteria, and exam centers.

Eligibility and Exam Structure: What You Need to Know

The CTET is a national-level examination held in two parts:

  • Paper I: For candidates who wish to teach Classes I to V (Primary Stage).
  • Paper II: For candidates who wish to teach Classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage).

Candidates aspiring to teach both levels must appear for both papers.

Key Eligibility Highlights (Subject to official notification confirmation):

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess the minimum educational and professional qualifications as prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). This typically includes a Senior Secondary degree or Graduation, combined with a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or equivalent, either passed or appearing in the final year of the course.
  • Age Limit: There is typically no upper age limit for the CTET exam, though the minimum age is usually 18 years.

The exam is conducted in an offline (OMR-based) mode. Both Paper I and Paper II consist of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), and the duration for each paper is 2.5 hours.

The entire application process will be conducted online through the official CTET website. Here are the steps to follow once the notification is out:
