New Delhi, December 22, 2025: The Salgaonkar family is officially returning for their final stand. In an announcement that has sent shockwaves of excitement through the Indian film industry, the makers of the legendary crime-thriller franchise officially confirmed on Monday, December 22, 2025, that Drishyam 3 will hit theaters on October 2, 2026.
Choosing October 2 is a masterstroke of marketing, as the date (Gandhi Jayanti) has become synonymous with the franchise’s lore. In the films, Vijay Salgaonkar famously uses a trip to Panjim on “October 2 and 3” to construct an airtight alibi, leading fans to celebrate the date annually as “Drishyam Day.”
The announcement was accompanied by a chilling teaser featuring a voiceover by Ajay Devgn. Reaffirming his character’s core philosophy, he says:
“What everyone perceives as truth is different. My truth is my family. The story is not over yet; the last part is remaining.”
The tagline “Aakhri Hissa Baaki Hai” (The final part remains) confirms that the third installment will serve as the grand finale to the saga that began in 2015.

The Drishyam series is unique in Indian cinema for its massive success across multiple languages. While the Hindi version starring Ajay Devgn has become a box-office juggernaut, the story originated in Malayalam with superstar Mohanlal.
In a historic move, reports suggest that director Jeethu Joseph and the various production houses have worked toward a more synchronized conclusion. Mohanlal recently wrapped filming for the Malayalam version, and the Hindi production is currently in full swing across multiple cities to meet the 2026 deadline.
While the plot remains closely guarded, insiders suggest that Drishyam 3 will raise the stakes to an “unprecedented scale.”
Since its debut, Drishyam has redefined the “family thriller” genre. The first part earned over ₹110 crore worldwide, while the sequel in 2022 shattered records, grossing over ₹340 crore. With the hype for the finale already reaching a fever pitch, Drishyam 3 is poised to be one of the biggest cinematic events of 2026.
